Can any suggest me some best ,fastest download manager available free of cost? I have been using Internet Download Manager 5.0 which is the best among the download managers I tried , and it is a trial version for one month only, going to expire soon. If I want to use it further, I need to re install the OS again. To avoid this I want some other software.

I've tried a program named gigaget a while back that helped me download a lot faster, but I've haven't used it in about a year now. However I don't think it lost its reputation as being a fast download manager. You should try gigaget out, and it also said on its website that it increases your download speed ten times.

Thanks for your suggestion.Let me try this software and now I am using Internet download manager. As this trial version is only for only monts, I used to format my system at least once in two months. I like this too much..Hope gigaget will replace the Internet download manager.

Yeah, firefox's own download manager kind of sucks - even if it is slightly better in version 3.
I use FDM (Free Download Manager), it works great even though I'm on dialup. I love that, if my connection randomly stops, it'll pick up just fine later on. With FF's download manager, which is *supposed* to pick up paused downloads, I would have to wait and wait but it never truly reconnected.

If I understand what you mean by download manager, firefox has it's own download manager. You can hit CTRL + J to get it or simply go to tools and then download. If this is not what you are talking about then, I am sorry that I was confused. I do hope that this helps though!
Happy Mylotting and have a wonderful day!

OK.You are correct, but the download speed of the firebox down load manager seems too low and it often comes to 0 kbps, and this may be the cause of the downloading site, it is happening very often. Let me try for some more downloads. Thanks for your valuable suggestion.

If you are like most people, and prefer a GUI, then I would recommend FlashGet. But if you don't care if it's text based, go with wget. :)
But with wget, it only runs while it is downloading.
