TIVO, DVR, or CPU ~ How do you watch the television shows you missed?

We started out with a TIVO, then we got rid of Satellite and switched to cable.
We we got cable we had the DVR, it recorded shows we wanted to watch and had a neat little feature that allowed you to bypass the commercials. Then we got rid of cable and started using our CPU's to catch shows we missed. We use hulu.com to catch any shows we may have missed or fell asleep on.
If you watch television sitcoms regularly, which do you prefer to use to record any shows you might miss? Or do you your CPU as well, like we do now?

So does this make the 4th time now that you have mentioned this website? It is a really cool site to catch up on the shows you missed. Thanks for sharing it.

tim and terri ~ I think that is cool how you two support one another. I've heard of hulu.com as it is FREE, but I haven't heard of the veoh site, is it free as well? I don't visit a lot of websites that I don't know, anymore it's how I contracted a virus on my system, from one of those video sites.

When we had cable we had movies on demand. I don't think it is the same as TIVO. There were only certain channels that had them, but it was only movies. It was for the movie channels, but we didn't even have the movie channels. Like we would have Starz on demand. I think we only had a couple of them though, I don't remember having HBO on demand but we could have. Even though the channels were movie channels, all of the movies that the actual channel played wasn't on the on demand channel.
We could choose what channel to watch and push play. We could pause it, rewind, fast forward and stop it. Our pay per view channels also had movies on demand. This was good so that we could watch the movie any time we wanted instead of having to wait for it to come on. We could choose a good time for us and watch it then. We could also rewind if we missed something in the movie or pause it if we had to do something. I miss those channels. I watched those channels more than any other channels that we had. Honestly I don't even think we were suppose to be getting them.
Now we have satellite but we don't have anything like that. The only show that I really keep up with is CSI: las vegas. I don't really watch any other shows that often, I am more of a movie person. If I ever miss a show of CSI then I catch it on their site "cbs". I just watched the past two episodes today on the site because I missed both of them. I have heard of hulu and went on there and watched a couple of shows but I have only been on their one or twice. I like the site, if I ever didn't have anywhere to go to watch CSI then I would go on hulu, or if I couldn't find the episode on the cbs site, I would go on hulu.

I like hulu because it's all in one spot, like a one stop shop.
I'm a movie person as well.

I just recently got hooked up with cable, which I hadn't had in 13 years. I know about the DVR thing, but haven't figured out how to use it, or if I need something other than my cable box to DVR. Otherwise I use the website that Tim mentions above since he was the one to tell me about it.

It's good to know and have resourceful friends. You sound like everyone else who get's a new electronic device, and not taking the time to read the instructions.

I wish they would have that feature on the CPU, that would be GREAT THEN, or at least an option to not watch them for maybe 2 to 3 weeks out of each month.

I use DVR. I like it a lot, but sometimes it can be a little slow to load. I especially like starting a show like 5 minutes in and watching it without commercials while it's still running.

If I miss them I just miss them. We have all the digital cable stations but tend to watch the same thing over and over again.

I have a DVR which came with my cable TV. So thats what I use. I have cousins who could not live without their TIVO, but i am not sure whats the differece of a DVR or a TIVO and I have never heard of CPU.

There really isn't much difference between a TIVO and a DVR, just slightly different technologies and features. Like different cellphones have different features and functions so does the TIVO and DVR units, they just are in the television arena.
A CPU is a computer.

We recently switched satellite companies and got a free DVR and we love it. We use it to record all ofthe shows we miss. I've never used CPU but it sounds great.

good thing indeed. Although I don't worry about this shows I miss, a lot of times lately I haven't been concerned about any of them. I've actually fallen asleep on many of them. Sad but true, and I usually watch them the next day, but I haven't really been motivated too do anything with it.
