I am curious to know about my friends in mylot. Are you living in the same place where you born?
I born in my mother’s place (a village in South India), which is beautiful place around with a lake. The place is filled with coconut trees. I brought up in my father’s place where instead of coconut trees filled with rubber trees. That is also a beautiful place. But now I am in the capital city of our country.
Tell me about you, eagerly waiting to hear from you all.

I was born in Mumbai and i am still living in the same house, same street and same locality. My house overlooks a Dattatreya temple and i can hear the temple bells every day as well as the aarati and worship done to the deity in the morning afternoon and evening. My house is in a mainly residential area but shops and the market and railway station are very close by. There are also schools and colleges in our vicinity. The name of my locality is Matunga where a large population of South Indians live. So we have plenty of Udipi restaurants and South Indian restaurants too. The famous Shankar Mattham . Aasthika Samaj and other temples are also in the vicinity and are visited by thousands of people. My building has a very quiet and peaceful atmosphere and i will not move from this place even if you give me a million bucks. Sreekala, if you ever visit Mumbai and have relatives here do send me a pvt message and i will give you my address and phone number so you can visit me. I will say VADDAKKAM to you.

Hi Veejay,
Thanks for the invitation and sorry for the delay in response. The word is not 'Vaddakkam', but it is 'Vanakkam', and using by Tamilians more. We are saying 'namaskaram' in malayalam for greeting somebody. I am really happy to know about your place and I have relatives in Mumbai but don’t think I will visit them. We are meeting in our native place and if I ever visit Mumbai I will definitely come to your place with my family.
Have a nice time.

Hi sree..I was born and brought up in Kerala though I am not a true malayalee in the strict sense of the term.I was born in the south of Kerala and after my marriage I shifted to the capital city ,where I am still living....Well Kerala is rightly named god's own country with its lavish spread of trees, especially coconut trees, and also the natural and scenic beauty of its back waters.Talking of beauty ,the women of kerala are often referred to as "coconut beauties",since usage of coconut ,especially coconut oil for cooking a s well as for external beauty treatment is supposed to be the secret of their beauty. No wonder the first runner up of miss world competition this year also happened to be a cocnut beauty from Kerala, isnt it Sree.............

Hi Rose,
Getting more responses I became lazy to respond so the delay in response.
It is new information for me which you have given in the first sentence. But I felt that you are malayalee now in all sense.
You are right dear, coconut has an important role in the day to day life of Keralites even if they are staying away from the place. One of my north Indian friend told me that Keralite people have a glowing skin because they are depending more on coconuts (according to her, coconut water also have some role). I don’t know whether she is right or not I simply smiled on her comment.

You seemed to have been born in a beautiful place my friend. I love seeing coconut trees as these palm trees look great in my sight. But all kinds of tress do enchant me. I love trees around me so my home now is also filled with plants and trees that make the atmosphere really cool. I was born in the same town here in the Philippines where I lived now. My parents' house was once surrounded with various trees like the fruit bearing trees like Mango, santos, star apple, chico and lots of ilang-ilang trees. But now those trees have gone as houses have to be built in place of them. I moved to a better place when I got married. I was able to purchase a house and lot where I planted all the trees and plants that I like.

Hi Salonga,
Yes if the place is surrounded with trees it will become cool and beautiful too. You are also lucky to live in such a nice place. In my native place there are trees still there. More houses are built newly as the population is getting more.
Thanks for sharing. Have a nice time.

I was born in a town in Oklahoma, USA, and now I just live about 15 miles from the place I was born. I grew up in a small town, and when I got married I moved away from there, and thats where I am currently living.

Hi Sreekala! The place where you born sounds so lovely, the lake and the coconut trees seems to be a nice place to relax . As for me, I was born in the city in the Philippines and I'm now currently living in a foreign country in the city and I think you already know where it is. But I would like to live in a countryside one day, where its quiet with a lots of green and fresh air. I've noticed your star is now blue, congrats.

I love reading about all the lovely places you guys hail fom! Me, I was born is South London, Battersea. A Victorian railwayman's cottage that at the time was considered 'cheap housing' but probably goes for half a million nowadays! We always had wet walls in the kitchen. One day my dad pulled up the floorboards - to discover a river in full flow! Our house had been built over the River Fleet which meant, at some time, the fantastical Battersea shield had passed beneath my home before it ended up in the Thames. The Battersea shield is a pure gold iron age shield now in the British museum. Did any of the wealth rub off as it passed by? Er - not on your nelly, as they say in Sarf Larndern.

I live in the US and I was born in another state and another town from which I live now. I much prefer the village I live in now. I've only lived here since last August and I can say it's a beautiful village through the three season's I have seen.

I was born in a small town near Karaikudi and was taken to SriLanka as an infant.I spent my childhood there in the hill country.I just can easily say that it is the best part of my life.I just went through a culture shock returnig to India which is my motherland. The traces of the great English culture still remains in Sri Lanka.Well I live as a true Indian with those wonderful memories.

I too was born in my mother's place which is a small village in its transitional stage to a medium town. But I like those nostalgic good old days where the music from the temples at dawn and dusk created a serene milieu, the camaraderie I had with my cousins, the schooling etc. all still lingers on.Your discussion just reminded me of those days. Thanks for this thread.

I was born and brought up in Delhi and I am a pure Delhi-ite. My better half also was born and brought up in Delhi and my kids were also born here. You are lucky to have born in such a beautiful place. I understand that you miss your native place's beauty here in Delhi, because Delhi is not as beautiful as your place is.

I was born in Kolkata where I live presently. Though I grew up in Darjeelimg surrounded by beautiful hills and pine forests with enormous school building and getting to see the snow clad golden Kanchenjunga every single day. It was just awesome except for the occasional punishments we got from Sister for breaking the rules!
Have a nice day!
