Do you all rate your best responses?

I am new on MyLot, and I am curious about "best responses". I have been rating the best responses on my discussions. Sometimes I will get a message from the member that I selected thanking me for rating their response as the best. But I have not yet been rated as a best response on any discussions I have participated in. So, do you rate the best responses on your discussions? What does that person get for being rated as the best response? Is there any benefit to this?

Hi TooFancy. I hate to admit I'm a bit slack in rating best responses, but I do at least rate everyone's responses to my discussions. One thing that is a tough one is if I get more than one best response...then I definitely won't rate anyone with a br. Maybe eventually I'll back track to my older discussions and just start giving brs in most discussions of mine...but yikes, I've been here more than two years so that is a LOT of brs to give out..LOL

Well like I said Annie I have an awful lot of discussions to "resolve"...over 70 pages...yikes..it would take me months to resolve them all. As far as it effecting ones' earnings.....no idea

I wonder if not being diligent in 'resolving' your discussions in giving best responses affects your earnings? Hmmmmm. I'm just full of questions, all the time. I know, I'm a pain. I feel guilty if I don't give out BR's within a certain amount of time. So, even though there are plenty of quality responses, I just force myself to pick one. If the guilt overwhelms me, then I go back and tell a few others, that I wished that I could have shared the BR with them, too. It's a small consolation, to really getting the BR, but it seems to make them smile and also serves to make me feel better, too, so no harm. Besslings.

I can see where it is tough to pick a best response when you have several that are good. Pyewacket, you do have a lot of discussions! Wow. Thanks for commenting on mine.

No, I don't. I always forget to do so. And when I remember, I don't want to spend so much time rating my best responses. I think it's better to rate though and award your best responses. That way those who respond to you will be rewarded for their good input. It's also nice to have short exchanges with those who respond to a discussions you start. it is enjoyable, but very time consuming.

I agree that it is nice to get a comment back from the originator of the discussion when you have responded to their discussion. I try to do that, too, but it is time consuming. And sometimes it gets hard to think of what to say back.

They don't benefit much if any. Alot of time it is a long time before people go through and rate the BR. I would not worry too much about it.

I can see where you wouldn't want to be too quick to rate the best response. People keep coming back to your discussion, so it is hard to tell when you have all of the responses you are going to get. But you are right, I won't worry about not getting one yet. It will come eventually, I guess. Thanks for your comment!

When I read someone else's discussion, I rate every post, sort of like a bookmarking system. That way, I can see how far I have read if I am interrupted, which I often am. At some point, when you have started the discussion, you should give someone "Best Response". Or maybe somebody, "got" your point so clearly, even early in the discussion, you may award it then. I think you should get more earnings if you are awarded Best Response, but I don't know for sure, or how much, if you do. But it would make sense, that if someone thought you made the Best Response out of the whole discussion, you should get some benefit. Don't worry, keep trying to post quality responses to other people's discussions. You WILL get some Best Responses. Hints: - Do not give 1 word responses. - Try to make your response as detailed as possible. - Make sure you have answered the question(s) asked. And all of your best responses are listed on your profile page, too, by the way.

I always rate my responces. most of the time they are rated excellent other times i don't rate them if they are not as well as i thought they would be. I never rate a reply unless its a really good reply.

I am trying to be consistent in rating the responses, and also in picking a best response also.

Yes, I have been given lots of best responses, which I am grateful for. :) I do rate other people as best response if it stands out form the rest. However, if everyone has a very good point of view, then I won't choose a best answer, and everyone would just be getting a positive. I always give positives to everyone that replies to my discussions. You are only new here, so don't expect to get best responses straight away, because it took me a while to. I probably only got one a month, and then all of a sudden I would get like 5 a month! I have though only been a member for under a year, but in a couple of months I will be a member of mylot for a year. :)
