i have heard from some older people that they don't think that daytime sleep does you as good as night time sleep and i don't understand that honestly because i know some people that work the night shift and they can't help it and they say that they make it by but they are always tired, and i guess that its the same with me when i fall asleep...so do you think that night sleep is better for you than the daytime sleep(sleeping in the daytime)...? i would like to take this time to thank everyone for taking the time out of your day to come by and read and review my discussion and hopefully answering, and trying to help me, and i hope that you all have a great day and night tonight, thanks again for taking the time to stop by.

I work in a call center here in the Philippines and we during night time because the company that we cater is based abroad and the timezone that we need to follow is theirs, so I sleep mostly during daytime now for almost six years, I can say that it's fair the only thing that I have notice in my appearance is that my hair turn to gray more faster but i don't believe it has anything to do with that....

I guess so, many medical experts confirmed that sleeping during the day cannot compensate for the lost sleep at night no matter how long. although some who work at night got used to their schedule and their body metabolism have adjusted to their work shift and adjust their body clocks. Some experts suggest that if working at night is inevitable, you can just try to create the mood of your room so it's like sleeping at night, like try to make your room as dark as possible by using thick curtain, etc.

even i work in night shifts and i feel tired but i complete my sleep in day time and again i feel fresh i think that its the human mentality which make the people tired i mean to say that if you think that i am tired, i amfeeling sleepy then its obvious that you will feel and do that bt if you give order to your mind that no i am feeling fresh, i had already took a 6 hs sleep then i dnt think that sleeping in day time will matter then sleeping in night time.....

well sleeping during the night has a lot of benefits as compared to sleeping during the day time.. some of the examples are:-
1- makes us more alert
2-reduces our risk for depression
3-naps helps us in making smarter
4-bolstees our memory
5-reduces inflammation
6-reduces stress
7-keeps our heart healthy(the most imp.)
i think after reading these points every1 will agree with me that sleeping at night is much more beneficial...

Basically, it actually depends on an individual's activity. As you have said it, getting a night sleep or daytime sleep defers regarding to a person's work or occupation. Some people does night shift and vice versa.
Therefore, if your body gets used to you sleeping during the day and staying up whole night, your whole body system works out the same way as those who sleeps at night. In other words, cell-repair process and growth happens when you sleep. Hence it doesn't matter or make a difference if you sleep during the night or day.
Both sleeping patterns has its own pros and cons:
-sleeping during the day is better as it is warmer. But it is too bright for our eyes to rest and enter the sleep-mode.
-sleeping during the night is better as it is dark. But the cold condition actually makes it hard for the body to rest.
Hope this helps... I am new here:)

I do not usually sleep during the daytime. I might take a short nap of not longer than an hour if I get too tired from working on the farm. I guess sleeping at night after a long day's work makes sleeping at night better. Cheers!!

I think it is the quality and length of time you spend sleeping not so much the time of day that one sleeps. many people work late shifts and do not get to sleep at night. Once they adjust their sleep pattern I think they are fine. people need a good quality sleep, whether during the day or at night.

Night sleep is much better than day sleep.
We all can tell the difference. During night
our bodies is resting and do it's maintenance.
It's during night that your body lay still and re-charge
and ready for the next days activities.

Hi,there,I do think night sleep is better than daytime sleep. The reason you sleep at daytime probably due to an unsatisfactory sleep at night. You feel sleepy at day time if you dont sleep well at night. So to some extent, daytime sleep is night sleep's supplement.I prefer to have sound sleep at night.

Hey there! Of course night sleep is better than daytime sleep. Night sleep is definitely better because it is the normal time of sleep and not daytime. And the reason why those people who work during night ship says that they get tired is because they don't get that much sun light, specially morning sun light. The sun gives energy to our body. I've tried that for one week working at night and sleep in the late morning till late afternoon. Oh man I always have a head ache. Although the income during night shift is enticing I don't wanna put my health at risk. Have a nice day. Happy posting!!

Our brains are geared to be more active in the daylight hours, unless we program them differently. I know that when I worked the night shift, I had to have a completely dark room to sleep in or I didn't rest well at all. If the sun was shining in my room, I would become restless and feel that I had to get out of bed.
I think that because of how our bodies work, it is necessary to slep when it is dark, and if it is not feesable to sleep at night, to at the very least darken the room where you sleep so it tricks your mind into believing it is night time.

I am also working at a call center for the past 3 years and so far I havent seen any difference from night sleep to daytime sleep. Although my mom insists that my being anemic came from working at night, I distinctly remember being diagnosed with Anemia when I was 12, so no I dont think that's the cause.
incidentally, with my last checkup, my mom went on and on about how working nights and sleeping in the morning is bad for my health. and then the doctor corrected her saying it doesnt really have any difference whether you sleep in the morning or at night. what's important is you get enough sleep. :)

Hello jhl. I think that night sleep is better than daytime sleep on my side because if I do not have a night sleep, I will not be able to work well the next day. But I have to say that an afternoon nap is a must for me to regain my energy for my afternoon work, which is also very important to me though not as important as my night sleep. Thank you for the discussion, friend.

I myself have had night jobs and know many people that do/have had, and no one I know thinks that daytime sleep is as good as night sleep. I find that you do walk around tired all of the time and never feel quite rested and when I have had day jobs and slept at night I usually always felt rested.
The human body is not meant to sleep for hours during the day and I don't care how long you've been on the night shift your body never truly adjusts. One reason is because of the body just not adjusting but there is also the fact that day sounds and noises tend to keep you awake among other things and then there is always the fact that it is not dark and quiet outside so that has something to do with it also.
I have never known anyone that gets full hours of sleep either. Say for instance the body needs anywhere from 6 to 8 hours of sleep a "night"/day, (24 hour period), when you have a night job and you come home you never get a solid 6 to 8 hours of sleep a day, there is always something that will either keep you awake or wake you up.

Interesting topic. Actually, I know some people that reverse their sleep time. They sleep in the day and wake up at like 1-2 at night and stay awake. It isn't bad. If someone gets used to it, then with time it might transform into a habit. Don't tink of it as not normal or anything. Things can be done in many ways :)
As for me, I can't do this. I sleep at night. That's what's best for me.
