St. Patrick's Day is coming up soon. When I was a child, they would have the parade a few blocks from where we lived. So it was easy to get involved in the parade celebrations. A lot of the kids we get the little green hats or some other type of Styrofoam 4 leaf clovers.
There was green cotton candy, and many adults had been even drinking green beer.
I don't live in a small town any more, so my kids won't be able to experience the parade experience that I did as a child. We don't drink beer of alcohol, so they definitely won't experience that either.
How will you spend your St. Patrick's Day?

My niece's birthday is St patty's day. I never really celebrated any of these types of events but I will spend the day with my niece and try to keep her happy. Other than that it doesn't mean anything else to me.

I really don't know what her favorite color is. I will have to ask her that one. What is the significance of St. Patty's Day anyway??

LoL ~ It is the celebration of the Irish Saint Patrick. So they named the holiday after him. Not sure where the green came in at. Maybe leprechauns?

What a good reason to do something special for her. Does she realize it's considered a holiday? Is her favorite color Green? LoL! It would be so funny if it is.

I don't really celebrate it but I used to take my son to the parade when he was little, I have written some stories about it as well.

That is such a shame and disheartening at the same time. I guess I won't be sharing any then.

Even though my youngest son and my partner are both Irish we have never celebrated St Patricks day.
But my youngest son is just coming up 3 so is a bit too young to celebrate yet.
My partner did not even celebrate even when he was living in Ireland. He was born and bred there.
A friend i have who lives in Ireland will usually send me an e-card wishing me a happy St Patricks Day. If i remember i will send one back, but that is about as far as we go.

Yeah it's not a normal day that we celebrate either. Thanks. In any event, I hope you have a good St. Patrick Day for 2009.

Thanks I'm sure we will, although it will just be another day for us. Not anything specifically special.

I have never really "celebrated" St. Patrick's Day. Since my childhood I have worn green on that day but only so I wouldn't get pinched. Now my kids do the same thing every year. I do have Irish ancestry, but have never really celebrated this day.

I don't celebrate St.Patrick's Day, its not really a big deal here, we've never had parades or anything like that. The one reason I don't celebrate it is because my grandma passed away on that day, even tho its been 10 yrs. now, I still miss her alot, and I don't like to remember that day.

No, I have never celebrated this day because I live in Latvia and St. Patrick's Day isn't a special day here, it doesn't have a special meaning here. We have other celebrates and special days which we celebrates every year on the same date.

I do celebrate St.Particks day. We never had a parade or anything like that in my hometown but some people always decorated their business or homes for the day. I always wear green of course and I put out my celtic cross center piece for my table out that day.

Even though I am part irish, I probably wont be celebrating St. Paddy's day this year. Really the only time that I remember celebrating this holiday was when I was in college, it was just another excuse to go to the bar's and party. However, I do remember the St. Paddy's parade's that my grandmother took me to when I was younger.
