Hurricane or earthquake?

I sometimes get scared of this natural disaster or we may call it events. In law this fortuitous events are just uncontrollable. I never seen hurricane in real, though I've seen it on tv. It's not really a thing that's common to happen in PI. But earthquake, tell me about it, I have experienced it twice. Actually 4x didn't feel the 2 experiences just some friends did. I think a little intensity and moving of platelets is cool and a little scary. It's like once in a bluemoon experience, well except if you are in Japan or the sort. Lol It has an intense feeling for seconds that, you would be frozen and thought to yourself, "What the hell just happened?!" Lol I guess it's fun experience when you're around your friends. But of course I really feel sorry for those who lost their lives because of these two.

I was born and raised in California, so I am used to the chance of earthquakes. They are not fun. They also are not predictable. (I'm not saying Hurricanes are a better natural disaster), but at least with Hurricanes you know when it's coming and sometimes you can predict the path it with take. Earthquakes just happen. You never know when or where, and you never know how strong it will be. They both suck. LOL

Wish one day scientist will find the way to predict earthquake, and give the nobel prize to the man who solve this problem.

I have experienced earthquake and it was really scary.. i've been living in a high rise condominium for almost three years and i've experienced it for three times already.. since we are living in the 9th floor, the feeling was more intensed as we felt that the building was shaking.. everytime there's an earthquake, we stay in the middle of the door..

I'm a pro at hurricane preparedness. I live in South Florida and have experienced quite a few hurricanes. It takes a lot of work to prepare. We recently purchased a big generator which will keep the power going for us,which helps a great deal, however you still have to pick up everything in the yard, trim tall trees, put up shutters, etc etc. Then when its gone, you've got to put everything back. Still you do get quite a bit of notice so I guess its better than an earthquake which is really not predictable. I've never experienced one and hope I don't have to. Have a great one!

hello smooch oh my gosh! i have never experienced either being in a hurricane or an earthquake like that before. i live in Middle Tennessee and we have tornadoes around here where that i live. and they are terrible when the weather bulletin flashes on the television to take cover that a tornado has been spotted in your area of town. run for the ditch! run for the ditch? don't think so. run to the basement of your house! run to the basement of my house? can't see myself doing that either. lol i will just sit in the hallway of the house or if it gets bad enough go sit in the bathtub. and i know what you mean about those frozen moments like that when one is in the path of a natural disaster. take care and have a beautiful evening.

I live in Florida so we have seen our fair share of hurricanes. They are scary and cool at the sametime. The trees kind of lay over and when the center of the eye gets over you it looks like a beautiful day. They are very dangerous and we lost half of our house through it but we made it out fine. Never have been through an earthquake though.

I TOTALLY agree with you. I live in Florida too *waves to ya from Pensacola* I was here for the aftermaths of Hurricanes Ivan and Dennis, although we evacuated during the times the stores were making landfall. We came back to town within a day or two of the storms passing to make sure our stuff was OK. I agree that Hurricanes are both scary and awesome at the same time. We have stayed here for several strong tropical storms, and it was an exciting thing to watch. I have never experienced an earthquake though. I am sure that would be a scary thing....

I'd much rather go through a hurricane than an earthquake. At least with the hurricane, the ground stays put! Out in California they have earthquakes, bad storms, catastrophic fires and drought. I don't know why anyone would choose to live where the ground shakes, especially such an expensive place as California!

Fortunately, with hurricanes you have plenty of warning and the satellite system we have in Florida (5 of them) helps to give our weather forecasters a fairly good idea of where the eye is going to cross and what to expect as far as strength. I've been in 5 of them and they haven't been too bad but we always have three plans...stay put...go to my brother-in-law's concrete business which is nearby...or head out of it's path as far away as we possibly have to go. Earthquakes give you no advanced warning so that would really freak me out but I have an aunt and uncle who live in California and they've gotten used to them.

I have never been in a hurricane but have been in a few earthquakes. None oo bad. A few big ones but no real harm was done. Both can be devestating. But I think I would rather be in an earthquake because while yes you have plenty of warning sometimes it lasts alot longer. With an earthquake it's over in just a few seconds and most times they don't really cause much damage. It's rare that there is a huge devestating earthquake but the east coast seems to have highly damaging hurricanes every year. I think I'll keep my butt in southern cali and stand the earthquakes before anythign else for sure!

natural disasters are really horrible and it really effects life. may be sometimes it is unconsiderable but most of the times we find people suffering due to this disasters in one or other cities. due to these disasters there are so many families who lose life , become helpless, children get separated from parents and also lose them. i havent experienced these disasters anytime but hope i should never face this and also pray for everyone to be secure from this disasters.

I have been through an earthquake and nearly a catagory 1 hurricane and I have to say, that both of them are equally dangerous. I live in hawaii and I was surprised that an earthquake actually happened. What I don't get is why isn't hawaii hurricane prone? It's in warm waters after all
