What do you do with your old video games?

I've been trying to figure out what to do with my old video games for awhile now. I've thought about selling them back to a store like Gamestop or something but those stores really do rip you off with the price they give you for the game and the price that they sell the game for. It's kind of annoying really and I've had a game that I've wanted to get rid of for awhile now and no one was biting on Amazon.
After I did some searching, I found a pretty big and pretty popular game trading site called Goozex. You can trade your games, get points and then use those points to get other games and then you can retrade those games, get more games, etc. The game that I've been trying to get rid of for weeks was snatched up by someone right away for a trade. I'll be able to get rid of it and trade it for another game. I'm pretty happy about that.
If anyone would like to try the site and wouldn't mind being a referral that'd be great you can just PM me here and I'll give you the information. I'm not forcing anyone though, so it's entirely up to you.
Anyway, what do you do with the games you don't play anymore or the games you don't like? Trade? Sell? Toss in a corner and forget about them?

Wow, now I feel guilty about what I did with some games my boyfriend bought us. He bought some fighting combat games and my son didn't want them anymore. I would never play them so we brought it to a gamestore to trade. You're right, you don't get the money you paid for, but for three games, we picked up one I wanted.
Now, we have an Xbox and Xbox 360*. Me? I'm more clinging to the Xbox because it's got the games I can figure out. The newer ones are too advanced for me. *lol* My boyfriend told me to hold onto the games we don't play...but to me, that's just clutter I don't want to deal with.

That's how I feel. I feel as if the games that I don't play and am not interested in are nothing more than clutter and if I'm not playing them, what is the point in keeping them around. If I get a game that I don't like and I'm not playing it, well there is not point in leaving it sit around. I'd rather pass it on to someone that will play it or something.

I usually give them away. My sister in law sells her sons and daughters games they tire of so easily on eBay. I will let her know about site. If she wants to join I will let you know.

I usually go to Game Stop or Vintage Stock and trade them. I don't care about making a profit on them since I can't sell them for more than I paid so trading them for something else is just as fine. Keep doing what you are doing.

Hello there,
I would not recommend selling them to the store because they hardly pay you any price for them, as you have already mentioned.
You have found a very useful site for trading games. I am sure a lot of people would be interested in that. I have never been a video game addict nor do I wish to.
Still, I used to exchange my video games with my friends when I was a kid, and I we used to return each others' cassettes after a few days. And after some more time, when the games were really outdated, my mother used to give them to the children of my maid, who could not afford to buy them.

Well, we have Old games that we are no longer playing, and I used to sell a lot of them via the local SwapMeet when it was open, or via Ebay, or Trade Shows, etc. I have even sold some via word of mouth, or via Craigslist as well. Personally I would consider selling them to Friends, or someone via like Craigslist, etc. first, and then go from there.

I have not heard of them. I don't have
many games around the house, but maybe sometime
in the future my daughter will be interested
in games to play.

I don't sell the old games even some I didn't really like. In my case some of the old disliked games may still have some value to them even in the "craps and giggles" way of thinking (examples: Megaman Soccer, Unlimited Saga...'ugh'...). There are however some games that may merit selling (examples again: older Smackdown games - but they too can be keepsakes, plus it's more of a hit-miss type gaming franchise). And of course I can't help but mention the Gamestops, Gamecrazy's and stores like that don't offer you much for the games anyways.
Before I forget, there are of course games that are very hard to part with, and these are legendary games or soon to be legendary games (Final Fantasy Franchise, Megaman, etc.) Those I end up playing along with even a few average games.
I think one final thing to consider with old games is play them once more and maybe write a discussion for mylot or a blog entry about them. It might be fun.

Keep them. Like you say, you're not going to get a good price if you try and sell them to Gamestop or a pawnshop or someplace. I'll keep them for the great memories they gave me and there's always a chance you'll miss them after they're gone. I used to sell games. I ended up selling my first Nintendo and all of my games for it to buy a Nintendo 64.(Still new at the time.) I ended up missing those games a couple of years later. I've managed to re-buy nearly every game I have ever sold. Now, I do have a some duplicates I wouldn't mind selling. (Some even factory-sealed.)

Well I do not pay for games at all. I found this site for Nintendo wii and Nintendo DS where you pay one time and you can download anything that is on the site. I think it is the best way to go. I will never buy again because of that take care and happy mylotting to you as well.

Well gamestop won't really buy older games anymore, at least the ones near where I used to live didn't, but the reason they buy the games for a lower price then they sell them for is because if they bought and sold it for the same price they wouldn't make any profit and normally pay less for a game they have a lot of copies of in stock, or are unpopular, such as most sporting games, I've seen some used sports games sell for as low as $2 and some that had recently been released sell for less than half the new price. Then again some of the more popular games sell for almost the same as a new copy, but I'm off topic now...
I tend to keep the really old games, even ones I don't like too much, but if its a game that was released in the past 3 years or so I might sell it, if I need the money to buy another, newer game, or a game that I have more interest in.

Hi. It's lucky that you can trade your old video games. For me, i don't often buy video games. I like playing games when i am free. But most of my games are downloaded from the Internet for free. If i don't like the game anymore, i will delete it and then find something new. As for the video games i bought before, if i don't play it anymore, i will put it in a corner and if my friends want it, i will give them. They will be happy.

Hi highflyingxangel - My teenage son sells his to Gamestop, just because it is so easy. But, I guess if you don't like how much they are willing to pay you for your games, maybe you should consider selling them on eBay or something like that. That way, you are more in control. Good luck and I hope you get a lot of money for them! :)

When i already bought new platform of console, i always sell it, because im not good at keeping something, if i keep something to long, it will be damage or broken. That's why i don't keep things. Including my game console, when I'm not using again, i will sell it, and the money for buy my new game console

I used to sell them but stopped due to the amount of money I was losing. I prefer to keep my video games now, never know when I want to play them again. Plus, I can keep them for my son, so when he gets older he can play them. :)

ive never gotten ride of my games but i would like to get rid of them. but even though gamestop and places like that dont offer much, in times like this every penny could count.
i most likely after hearing about the Gooex site might try it.
