Do you charge your phone even when it's turned on?

I am learning through your responses that it is probably not good for the battery but I charge my phone every night when I go to bed and my phone is almost always on. I don't want to take any chances that the phone's battery will run out.

It's actually okay to charge your phone while it is on. I do it all the time. The important thing is that you should let it run down completely about once a month.

Well I have a habit that I charge in when the mobile is on. i think my mobile is 24 hours on all day, well that dosen't mean that I am doing good, but I hate when someone calls me and they cannot reach me.

When I first bought my cell phone, I let the batteries die completely a handful of times before recharging. Now, I charge it every day whether it needs it or not. It's just a habit maybe, but I sure don't want to miss any messages!

yes i sometimes charge my phone even its on, specially when i am using it for important. or sometimes i just let it on while charging. but i think its not advisable to charge your phone while its on as it will make the phone weaker or even wont function. happy posting!!!

Yes, I always thought that it was better to turn your phone off while charging it. But a friend of mind said you can charge the cell phone while it is on, I am confused about this?

I have charged my phone on a few occasions when the phone was still on. I've had my phone for awhile now and my battery has slowly been losing power anyway. Before I could go several days without charging it, now I have to charge my phone just about every other day. Then again, I do not always turn my phone off when I go to bed at night but I'm trying to get back into the habit of doing that. I either need to get a new battery for my phone or I need a new phone.

well it depends :D if am on my way home and there's no choice- i let my battery be empty :D i charged it off but if am home or if the charger is with me (with an outlet of course :D) while my phone is signaling/having a warning that it's lowbat already i charge it while it's on :D Godabless!0=)

I do. I dont see the harm in it - the battery never lasted very long to begin with and the point of having it was so people can get ahold of me even when im on the pc (dialup) that if i turn it off to charge people still cant get a hold of me

Yes if I have a little battery left and I am expecting an important call ten I don't have any choice but to charge it even if it is turned on. I know that this is quite harmful to the battery of the phone but that rarely happen and that depends on the situation that I am in. as much as possible I don't want this to happen often to ensure that the battery of the CP will stay longer.

I should not be any problem for you to charge your phone when the phone is on..according to the manuals.

Some cases here that when you charge ur phone when it's on it will explode if ur battery was a generic type try a branded one to make sure it is safe....

I put my phone on the charger every night. It's pretty important, especially now since I have to give my ferret his medication in the morning at a set time, and since my phone is the only alarm clock I have I worry too much over whether it's going to discharge and not go off if I don't charge it. Before I used to wait a day or two before charging it, so the battery wouldn't get mad at me and shorten it's lifespan too much. Still, I haven't noticed a big change in battery life after I've been doing this for a little while.

i did this everyday. bcz i only got one battery, and i dislike to miss any call or sms. so i might have to charge my phone even with it's turned on .. happy mylotting

I always turn on my cellphone when I am charging its battery. They said, it is a bad practice but I don't know why I am still practicing it.hehehe..I noticed also that most cellphone owners turn on their phones when charging.

Yup. Sometimes I do that. I seldom pay attention the the battery level of my handphone so it is quite a trouble when I realize that it is almost over. To avoid that normally I check the battery condition at the night before sleeping. If it is still satisfactory, I won't charge it otherwise I will charge it even though it is still on. I don't turn off the phone because I set the alarm to wake me up.

Actually I do this all the time with my old cellphone,nut with my new one I keep it in mind that I have to turn it off because if I won't it will automatically shut off when I begin to use it after charging.Making me irritated specially when I'm in the middle of a text.
