Do you think 105 pounds is too skinny for my height?

So, I'm on a low calorie diet (1200 calories a day) and I exercise 3 times a week (I work with dogs so I am standing/walking/lifting/playing 8 hours a day 3 - 4 days a week, which is why I only do extra exercise on my day off). Well, I decided that my goal weight would be 105 pounds, based on other models and body measurements. I'm a 5' 7 and everyone keeps telling me that is too skinny, but when I check stats, people my height that have the 34-24-34 figure are all 105 pounds. What do you guys think? Do you think that is too skinny.
Oh, and does anyone have any more tips on losing weight for me? I eat 3 small meals a day and 3 snacks, and I always have 1 glass of milk a day and plenty of water. Do you think I should cut my calories more? More exercise? I weigh 158. I know it's a lot, which is why I'm trying to lose it. Also, my measurements are 34-29-39.
Thanks =)

From the guidelines I have read, 105 would be a pretty low weight for your height. I'm seeing 138 for a small frame, 148 for a medium frame, and 158 for a large frame. To determine your frame type, place your thumb and index fingers around the wrist of the other hand. If the thumb and index fingers overlap you have small frame. If the thumb and index finger just touch you have a medium frame, and if they do not reach you have a large frame.
What you are eating is just as much, if not more, important that how much or how often you eat. Cutting your food intake too much sabotages your metabolism - your body thinks it's starving, so it basically slows down to conserve calories. It can also have long term effects with metabolism as you grow older.
I don't count calories but prefer to follow a healthy eating plan - I follow the Let's Do Lunch plan: http://www.letsdolunch.com

Oooh, I didn't know that. I checked my fingers and they really overlap so I guess I'm a small frame.
Can you tell me if this a good thing to be eating? This is my typical day.
Breakfast:
Egg white omelet with mushrooms, and bell peppers. sprinkled lightly with feta cheese.
1 piece of whole wheat toast with 1 teaspoon of grape jelly.
1 glass of whole milk.
Snack:
Apple
Lunch:
chicken burger on whole wheat toast with 1 teaspoon of miracle whip and mustard. With lettuce.
1 small bowl of miso soup
Snack:
low fat granola bar
Dinner:
Salad, with mushrooms, bell-peppers, carrots, and 1 tablespoon of beans with 2 tablespoons of low-fat Ranch dressing
Snack:
low fat yogurt.
Is that good?

What I am going to say is primarily based on how I eat on my selected eating plan, and I am sure others on other plans may disagree.
I don't eat bread, and I don't eat cereals that are made with processed grain - only whole grain cereal. I also don't eat potatoes of any kind.
A couple of small ways to cut back would be to use something like Simply Fruit Spread (spreadable fruit with little or not sugar) and to drink skim or low-fat milk instead of whole milk. Switching to Miracle Whip Light or Miracle Whip Free would also cut fat and sugar.
I would say to add more fruit and vegetables and not be too concerned about portion control where they are concerned (except if you eat potatoes).
A good indication of whether you are eating enough is whether you are hungry and whether you are having cravings for sweets or starches.

I think that's way too little! I don't know how old you are or what your BMI is, but these are things you need to know prior to setting a weight goal. I myself am 5'1" and have lost 40 lbs and I weigh 120. My husband is already complaining that I look way too skinny, and I do. I'm wearing a size 0 now and since I'm middle aged, I've decided to add 5 lbs to see if my face looks a little fuller. It also depends on your body type. If I were to go down to 105, I would look anorexic! I think you should just focus on losing 5 at a time and take it from there. Good luck!

I'm currently 156 pounds (as of this morning) and and my BMI is 24.43. I'm technically in the normal weight, but I still feel very fat. That's a good idea though. If you're a 0 at 120 and you're 5'1, then I'd probably be way too skinny. I want to be a size 2 or 4. =)
I think I will do that. Lose 5 pounds, see how I look, then lose 5 more, etc. Thank you.

I think that it's a normal weight for models. They are skinny but I think what is important is if you look good with that weight then go for it, some people look like addicts if they are too skinny and they look old too , so they really should gain some weight. But as long as you are healthy , that should be good.

Yes, I think that 105 is too skinny for your height. I know in hollywood everyone makes being very skinny seem great. But I do not think it is healthy. I am much shorter than you, yet still I way more and I am considered the right weight for my height.

I agree with Mazee. 105 is too skinny. 115-120 pounds are in your normal BMI, 105 puts your under the normal BMI. And believe or not you do need some fat to insulate and protect your organs and to make cell membranes for your cells. I am 5'8 and my goal weight is 164. The number doesn't really matter if you like how you look. And don't let other people tell you what you should look like. Just be happy with yourself.

I am of the opinion that 105 is to skinny for you. I'm shorter than you are, and I'm very small and petite, and still wear kids clothes even though I'm in my twenties, and I weigh 108. People think I'm skinny! Every body is different. You may naturally weigh more than other people your height, like if you have more bone density, you're going to weigh more. Also keep in mind that muscle weighs too! If you are exercising in a way that makes you gain some muscle, you are going to weigh more. Hope that helps you!
