I made my own pancakes... not the pre made ones from the shops! Ok I didn't do a very good job of tossing them... but never mind lol!
We had melted chocolate, marshmallows and strawberrys in ours! Very fattening but also very very very nice!! Went down well with me and the kids
So did you have pancakes? Did you make them yourself? What did you have on them?
Maybe I could get some tasty tips for next time

Hi ya mummyofthree
Sure did, it's Shrove Tuesday, you can not have them today if you live in the UK!! Well I must admit I did use a packet one but I did add the egg, water and whisked it all myself! I am a stickler for tradition so we had lemon juice and sugar, I wonder where that came from? I mean why lemon juice and sugar? I understand why we have Shrove Tuesday and all that but nothing else really. I just flip mine over once and don't go for anymore turn overs than that as I would never catch it!!

I know that in Gloucester pancakes were made with suet, which gave them a rich, grainy texture. They were the size of a large scone, fried in lard, and served with golden syrup.
Elsewhere, there were 'harvest pancakes for the poor' and 'pancakes for the rich'. Those for the poor were quick-cooking, portable food that was eaten by farm labourers. The batter was made with mild ale, powdered ginger and, sometimes, chopped apple, and small ladlefuls were cooked in lard. The 'rich' pancakes, were large and thin. They were made with cream, nutmeg, dark sherry, rosewater or orange flower water, and cooked in butter.
But I have no idea were the sugar and lemon came from though!! Would be interesting to find out!

OMG!!...I totally forgot today was pancake tuesday until I saw your discussion.
Now that there is only hubby and me left at home, we dont have to remember dates and things..so we dont!...lol
Your pancakes sound delicious though..i would also pile whipped cream on top!!
Oh man...I just told hubby what day it was..he said oh really and seemed disappointed. I told him I would put the big pot of spaghetti I have simmered all day in the fridge til tomorrow..He said...NO WAY!!!!
So I guess when I serve up those plates of spaghetti, I will have to round it off and squish it down and pretend we are having spaghetti pancakes..
Do you think it will work???

Hey mom of three, I am also a mom of three. LOL Though I seen your discussion on Wednesday, we did have pancakes yesterday on Tuesday. We had them in the evening as this is the only time we all sit together at the table and I thought it would be a better time to reflect. We really enjoyed them. Sometimes I have chocolate chips in them, but many times I put the wild blueberries I have picked and froze in them. But last night I made them plain but got butter flavored syrup that was really fattening. Oh well, once and a well is okay.

Hey there! Wow, you're pancakes sounds very delicious! You put chocolate, marshmallows, and strawberrys. I haven't tried that. I would love to try that. I envy you, because you know how to cook pancakes. I just love eating them but don't know how to cook them. Happy posting!

I love making pancakes! Well technically I don't really make them since I buy pancake flour from the store. Actually, I usually try to get Japanese pancake flour, it's my favorite because it rises and becomes quite fluffy. I love using chocolate and blueberries.
Marshmallows sound like such a good idea! I'm going to have to try that the next time!
