a simple shawl or stole pattern that explains how to use multiple yarns. Can someone PLEASE pretty pretty PLEASE - help me!!! im begging! i got a yarn kit that has about 5 or 6 different types of yarn.the lady at the shop i went to told me its for a shawl but that she did not have a pattern for the kit yet. the kit was only $40 and was worth well over $100 so i could not pass it up - but now i just need to find a simple pattern that explains how to make the shawl and how to switch from one yarn to the other. ive heard of yarning up the side, but would i still do that with more than 2 different colors? and i know i can cut and tie the yarns together but there has to be a better way to do it. will someone please help me out!?

I do not know that much about knitting but I found a site that might help you, I know it's sister site for crochet has instructional directories and this one might as well, I hope it is useful to you! http://www.knittingpatterncentral.com/directory/shawls_stoles.php

Hi.. uhm I think you could just pick up any shawl or stole pattern and use it with different coloured yarn. Try www.garnstudio.com or www.lionbrand.com they have quite a lot of knitting or crochet pattern in there and you can find whichever one you like. As for changing from one yarn to another, what I usually do to change colour and make stripe is to carry the unused yarns up the side, this still work even with multiple yarns. Or if you are making a pattern in the shawl then you just carry the unused yarn across the knitted pieces and slipped it inside every few stitches or so. If this is too messy, you could always just carry it a little bit, slipped it inside the sts to make sure it doesnt fall out, and cut it off and weave it :) good luck

have you looked the kit up on Ravelry? There are usually dozens of examples there of how other people's versiones of any given pattern or kit came out and that might help you determine what yours might look like, even if you decide to use a different pattern it will help you see how the yarn knits up, drapes and wears. Splicing the ends is the neatest way to join, but depends a little on the fibre composition of your yarn.

I cut and tie the yarns together myself. I never seen another way. Another website with patterns is www.redheart.com Good Luck!

thats one site i havent looked at before! thank you! also- how do you tie your yarns? i always have problems noticing where i tied yarns together and ive always wondered if there was a way to prevent being able to see the knots.
