A friend of mine bought me one of Doctor Laura's book so I could read it and we could take about it. What it did was bring up a lot of bad memories from my child hood so I stopped reading it.

I strongly believe in them, they are my bibles in actual fact, many a time I have bought self help books to help me whether it's a condition I have had or if I needed help with confidence, positivity or dealing with other changes in my life. I have found them highly informative, inspirational and a great help. Feel The Fear And Do it Anyway by Susan Jeffers was a great book recommended to me, ironically by a friend on this site! As was You Can Heal Your Life. I use them to help me and refer to them often. They serve a great purpose in my life and really assist in my growth.

Yes, the Holy Bible. That is my only self help book I will ever need. Everything I need to know about health, wealth, healing, relationships and family are in the Holy Bible.

THe Power of Positive thinking....I have read a bunch of self help books....basically most of them just make money for someone who tells the same story in a different way( The Secret to me is a rewrite of The Power)...but the power of positive thinking....plus the advice I heard on a radio show was to look for the good in any situation..and shrug off the bad. After I heard that the first thing that happened was I went out to my car and I had a flat tire....instead of thinking....oh crap...I have to get it fixed..I'll be late for work.....I thought.....good thing it didn't happen when I was driving down the freeway with the kids in the car! It really has done alot of me....I really don't get depressed..very seldom...I strive to think positive and when I do things so much better...and easier!

A good one that really resonates with me is Your Erroneous Zones by Dr Wayne Dyer. I liked the book so much I had to buy another copy when I went to the UK on a working holiday. Dr Dyer goes through all the different negative habits of your life that are making you unhappy and has useful advice on how to change. It’s a great book although a bit old fashioned because it was written in the 70s. It’s a bit radical in places but full of useful advice. ![](/Content/images/emotes/happy.gif)

When I was younger I used to like to read all the self help books. I forget the name of the one that I thought was really good. Its been so long ago but it was a self help book on anxiety.
