Check out the image of a and old house i uploaded below... it is owned by may boss and it is almost 100 years old.. Do you think it is a beautiful house... or a creepy one full of evil ghost... I think it is very beautiful despite its old and rundown appearance... and it is full of great history... it was actually designed by one of the first Filipino Architect (forgot his name)... and it was occupied first by the richest family in Pampanga Philippines... but my boss who is now currently living in Manila, donated it to Missionary Priest to be their formation home... The priests said they would often hear voices, crying, and other sort noises at night... but because of their constant prayers the sounds are gradually disappearing... Would you live in a century old house like this?... would you sell it or have it demolished to build a new one?...

I've always loved old houses...the detail and elaborate designs are beautiful...but I would have to upgrade it with modern amenities like air conditioning. I have been in a beautiful old house in Maryland that is definitely haunted by at least three souls but it's historic so there's no chance of it being torn down. We never saw any of the ghosts but we do have some interesting photos of the globes, which appear and disappear at will. We were using three different cameras, taking shots from the same angles at the same time so we could see how the globes moved across the room as we were shooting.

Below is the picture of what they did to the second floor... the missionary priests turned it into an altar where they celebrate mass everyday... the neighbors are very happy about this... because the house that they ones thought of as hunted is now a place for woship... Thanks for the response...

I could live in a house like that. I love that old look. It shows that it has a history and the roughness gives it character. I don't care much for the really modern looking homes. Older houses just have a homier feeling to them. Oh and I love old hardwood floors. After my partner's house burnt, he moved an old house over on a new foundation, and beautifully restored it. It is modern but classic. He even somehow managed to keep the hardwood floors that were originally in the house. He did a really good job choosing neutral colors that flow really well from room to room.

I think you will like the old stair case of the house... it is so beautiful... made from the hardest wood found in the Philippines which is Narra... so even if it is already a hundred years old... it still looks as good as new... it is nice to meet someone who also loves old houses...

Hi aseretdd, scary looking for me but I love also to preserve this because of the history. I find it beautiful. But, I don't like to stay alone there..LOL! I have seen yesterday from TFC a guy who are collecting old houses and I thought this is part of it..... Anyway,I hope they will preserve this and take care of it really, it will be great if they will open also this for public viewing. I have visited once in CEbu and gosh, it was scary...the rooms, the curtains and all, it was very very old and the lady who works there told us that one time when a students from Mindanao were there as their field trip, 2 students stayed longer in one of the room and lost the group but one lady wearing a Filipiniana Attire ushered them in every rooms and explain to them every history of it... They found out later that no staff who works there wear those attire!

I am sure that this is not a part of the collection... because my boss already donated it to Missionary Priests... and gave some money to fix the roof, windows, etc... but a lot still need to be done... the story about those two students is indeed very scary... but i thing the lady wearing Filipinian attire/ghost was kind enough to show them around... Thanks for the response... below is a picture of the house in a different angle... still creepy in a beautiful kind of way..

Hello aseretdd, Wow! It is quite a big house and honestly, I feel creepy just looking at it. Very weird that my ideal house should be a single storey house with not so many rooms. I can't stand living alone in a big house. I am a scared person. If I inherit a big and old house like this, I think I will rent it out or maybe just find another buyer.

Same with my mother... when my father decided to have our house renovated... my mother insisted on just having one storey with only 3 rooms... even if the lot area still have a lot of space... i did not contradict her because that is what she wanted... Thanks for the response...

i think both, it's beautiful yet creepy. i would love to own an old house but i wouldn't live there maybe i'll turn it into a museum or something or i'll rent it for ghosthunters hehehe. it would be a waste to demolish such a historical house.

I guess my boss also think that it would be a waste to demolish it... that is why she donated it to missionary priests... since she cannot live there anymore... and i think that is a smart and honorable thing to do... Thanks for the response... welcome to mylot and i hope you enjoy every minute of your stay here...

Well i wouldnt sell it ofcourse even if i dont live there.I will love to stay but the ghost thing keeps me a bit scared. Though even if i dont stay but i will definetly preserve it because i am jus in love with antiques a lot.Its just the gist of what was our ancestor about, their choices, their cultures etc. And mostly they are just unique from anything. just uncommon

Thanks for the response... welcome to mylot and i hope you enjoy every minute of your stay here...

Personally when a home is over 100 yrs. old it would be a shame to Tear down, and that is really nice that they would in turn donate it to someone to use as well. It does definately look old and a little scary looking, but if someone was really worried I am sure some paint and such could help as well. This is a definate part of History I would think needs to continue to be preserved as well.

The missionary priest will indeed preserve and restore the old house... but it would take time to return it to its original grandeur... because that would entail a lot of money... for now... they are doing all that they can to fix those that immediately needs to be fixed... Thanks for the response...

It would be very pretty if someone fixed it up. It sounds like it must be haunted although I am not sure if I belive in ghosts. I still like reading stories about them. This sounds very interesting.

The missionary priests who are living there now are trying to restore the place to its former grandeur... but it is taking them quite some time because the process needs a lot of money... the place i haunted before... but because of their prayers... the ghost disappeared or apparently left... Thanks for the response...

I love it! I would live there but I would not bet that it isn't haunted. I lived in an old house for years and loved it. My grandfather bought it several years ago and it was beautiful but needed a lot of work done to it as this looks to need also. These types of homes are fun and the most beautiful ones made. They just don't design them like this anymore. Your boss should have kept this and lived there. There is plenty of history to it.

I agree... they don't design houses like this anymore... which i think is a big waste... because it is so very beautiful... my boss cannot live there anymore because most of her business and life is in the city... so she decided to just donate it to missionary priests... Thanks for the response...

Well, a lot of work really needs to be done on the house... the priests are doing all they can to restore it to its former glory... but it will take some time since they still need to ask money donations from other people... Thanks for the response...

Old building is a city's history.Sometimes sedimentation history make people heavy. Living in it you will feeling a little depressed. If you remove all the history, make it be a complete modernization, you will often feel a bit at a loss.People are strange, sometimes prefer to seek the origin, search history.

it makes me remember some films i saw before, frankly, i don't dare live in this kind of house, it is so big and full of great history...especially the terrible voices, crying, and other sort noises at night your mentioned above, sounds creepy. if i have a house like this i would sell it as soon as possible and settle down in another place with a new house.

It does look like one of those creepy houses used in horror films... but right now... since missionary priests live there... the noises faded away... maybe because of the constant prayers made by the priests everyday... Thanks for the response... welcome to mylot and i hope you enjoy every minute of your stay here...

I agree with you Gracekwenx. Having priests around, can ward off any evil that the deceased spirits have left behind. I truly believe that at least nine praying priests should keep the evil influence down.

Oh my gosh, that could be such a beautiful old home if restored to it's original grandeur. I have lived in several old homes. One that was 80 years old, and I was actually fortunate to have the daughter of the doctor who had built it as a neighbor. She stopped by one afternoon and told me all about the history of the home. It was also amazing that every brick was just as straight as the day it was laid. I recently lived in an older home that was built in the 1920's, and after living there for over a year we came to find out that there was a 'ghost' residing there, we did not feel his presence until my b/f was playing Irish music. After that, we did notice the presence more often, although it was never a feeling of evil or bad. I love old homes, and would love to restore one myself someday. My parents have turned an old school house into a lovely home, although it is still a work in progress, they have done a lot to it.

I wonder why the ghost made its presence felt when your b/f played irish music... maybe he/she was irish... or that was his/her favorite kind of music... ghosts are so mysterious most of the time... there are still a number of century old houses in my area... some were restored... and some are slowly dying... i hope the local government would do something about it... Thanks for the response... Thanks for the response...

Wow, this is a very beautiful house. I can see its nice design and it doesn't look so old anyway. I like big house. And this house seems to be very comfortable. I like to live in it. I also think that this house can be rented for the travelers. And it can also rent to make the film. I love China

Its creepy and beautiful at the same time. i believe that that house has many stories in it,both creepy and beautiful memories. I guess what makes the house look creepy is the fact that we were raised to identify creepy houses with old houses, big houses with wooden floors and many rooms just in the picture. But nevertheless I find it more on the beautiful side than the creepy one.For me,nothing beats the old architectural styles specially during the Spanish era.

Looks like my house aseretdd hehe :p There seems to be a lot of old family houses like that in the Philippines. I don't mind having old houses like that around but I wouldn't want to live in it. Unless it becomes an eyesore, demolishing it would not be preferable either. In a world of modernity, an occasional mix of historical structures is a relief.

I think that house is very beautiful. If I owned that house, I would not live in it because I would be scared, but I would not have it demolished. I might sell it or, just like your boss, donate it. That house is too valuable in its beauty and its history to be demolished and built over. It should be set up as a museum, so that people from all over may visit a house of valuable beauty and history.

It is really a good decision to donate the house to missionary priest... if not it will just go to waste... ore people will eventually squat there... and that is not a good thing to happen... because it will be difficult to ask them to leave... Thanks for the response... welcome to mylot and i hope you enjoy every minute of your stay here...
