Does it exist?

I'm a stay at home mom who is looking all over for work to do at home. I'm tired of finding these companies that look so promising but turn out as being a scam. I find myself needing to work to help provide for my family but with the cost of daycare its only defeats the purpose of me working outside of the home. Is anyone else out there in the same boat and found a light at the other side of the tunnel? Does work at home exist?

Usually you have to have some sort of skill or run a business or something. Here are examples. I ran a licensed daycare out of my home when my daughter was little because I did not have a car and lived out in the country. I did have a home that would work for that. It was long hard work and I did everything myself. I did that for two or three years until we moved for my husband's job. My sister is a medical transcriptionist for a hospital. These jobs are becoming harder to find. Usually you need some sort of formal education and then need to work for the hospital for a time, then they will send you home. Many times you have to pay for your own equipment. Hours are long and dictators are difficult. My sister raised three children on this when her husband left her. I worked in a grocery store on the midnight shift while my husband worked days. That way someone was always home with the kids. My daughter has been working on web sites for many years. She designs business cards, etc. This takes a long time to build up and the income is small. I do not want to discourage you. Look at what you are gifted in. That may be the best place to start. Then begin to look at what is available in that field. I have a friend who takes care of the elderly. She is close to 80 years old but looks young. She has survived for many years on this and has even bought her own home. There are always possibilities. There are many articles written on www.helium.com about this subject. I read those articles and that is how I found this web site. Not all articles are helpful, but it was a starting point for me. You have to weed through the information and check out sites on your own.

Good times or bad, parents always have a hard time paying for someone watching their children. That is why you have a contract and stick to it. If they do not pay, you are not doing a job, you are volunteering. Our state licensing office (michigan) had examples of a contract that one could write for day care. It has been many years so I don't remember what that clause was. I only had one person that did not pay and that was for only a week and they were gone. Don't look at the gloom. Look at the opportunity. I asked God what I should do when I did all of these jobs. Medical transcription worked for a while, it made enough for a down payment on a home for us. Day care worked for a while, it allowed me to watch my nephew and some really sweet kids for nice families and I was able to pay heat, utilities, and put food on the table. Working with my husband in his office worked for a while. We turned a business around in six months that was loosing money. I cleaned homes in Florida with a friend for apartment complexes. That was fun - roaches and all - but they let us take the kids with us and we home schooled while we cleaned. I did draft drawings for an engineering company while my mom watched our daughter. Tried to sell encyclopedias, key word tried. Earned a free set though so it was worth it. Attended school for medical transcription in between husband working at home, mom taking chemotherapy, and home schooling. A dyslexic person learning medical transcription. Took the highest grade in my classes and no one has ever been able to beat it. There is something out there for you no matter what is happening around you. You will look back on this time and be thankful for where it has taken you. Put your hand and heart in God's care and fly to new heights. Bottom line is my daughter was learning right along side of us and she is not afraid to start up her own business. Isn't that what makes our country great.

Thanks for you input! My soon to be father in law recommended the medical transcriptionist to me. I did a search for it and no results came up. If something did "pop up" it was some type of company looking for money to do a program, etc. I am also looking in to doing a daycare service, my problem is that a lot of people in my area (I'm in VA) are losing jobs left & right and more moms are staying at home with their kids to avoid paying for daycare themselves. There are a lot of home daycares in my area so the option is there for me to do so but at the same not because of "competition" on rates. My soon to be sister in law watches a couple kids and her number one complaint was the parents inability to pay her on time. She went almost 3 weeks before one couple paid her because they "didn't have the money". Its a tough economy out there and why I myself am searching for options.

I am currently unemployed, and write, and do a few other sites, where I make an ok amount each month. 2 sites, I have been averaging $30.00 a month, and where I write, if I keep writing articles, etc, I can make around $100.00 a month or more. But, I also promote my articles too, which helps. If you would like my best sites, message me and I will send you the links. Good Luck to you Hugs MaryLynn

I have one but I seem to be having trouble getting the banner to work on my profile. If interested friend me and I'll PM you information. The company has been BBB accredited for 9 years and has a rating of A. I personally have just joined, but I know someone in England who makes around 40,000 pounds a year with this one. They are also extremely professional looking and are behind a few things I have heard of that I knew were legit long ago. It is an affiliate program and will take some time, effort, and dedication to make work, but I believe it can work. If you join under me, I will give you some resources, and there are great resources on the site. I won't bombard you or anything, just introduce things slowly. Let me know if interested. There are lots of other helpful people on there as well.

i know it is really hard to find good jobs at home. even i am a stay at home mom and there are reasons due to which i am not able to work same like you. i do mylotting just to spend some free time and i know the money obtained from here is very less and the money alotted for the discussions is very less and needs more work. but i feel that there are very little possibilities to get a genuine home jobs online but you can always try but be carefull due to scams.

I look forward to mylot. I was skeptical at first but read a lot of reviews and people defending the site when it was called a scam. I don't expect to be a millionaire doing things of this nature but I hope that by reading other's posts & discussing things with other people that I may feel better and find something to help our family get by. I know everyone is "hurting" right now and times are tough. I just wish moms & dads as well as other people who stay at home had more options when it came to work...

Ice, I said this in my post on the next page but I'll say it again. I am in an affiliate program where I know someone making good money. I am not there but I know they are legit and they are BBB accredited and have been for 9 years. There are some really great helpful people on there. If you are determined and dedicated, you can do it, but you really need to put your mind to it and realize that nothing is going to happen overnight. If you stay focused and motivated, you can do well.

Another place you can write is www.reviewstream.com - currently paying $2 for product reviews. I haven't got paid yet, but I've had nearly all my writing accepted so far.

you will have to let me know how this goes! I wouldn't mind doing reviews. Honestly, I am for doing just about anything as long as there isn't a price tag attached to it that I have to pay for and will seriously pay.

You need to earn $50 to get paid (they do paypal). I haven't got there yet, because I'm not focused enough to do it everyday. I don't think it's unreasonable to get to that goal within a week though. You should check out their website. I have a link on my profile.

If you have skills as a writer (poetry, short stories or factual works) then you should be able to pick up a few dollars on Helium and Triond with little effort, but I'm afraid it wont support you full time. As a student thought it does add a nice little boost to my income. Have you considered teaming up with some friends, so you can all work part-time and look after each others kids?

I know how you feel honey. I'm in the same position as you. The only thing I can suggest that honestly does earn you a few extra pennies is Avon. I've done it a few times before in the past and have just started it back up again as money is so tight at the moment. I have done many things to make a few exttra pennies. A couple of my working friends kept moaning that they were struggling with keeping on top of the housework. So I volnteered my services and was cleaning their houses twice a week. Bonus of that was I could take the kids and everyone was happy. I also used to be a childminder. Which was great. You work from home. You choose the hours you are available. Unfortunately though in reality it wasn't for me. But may well be worth you looking in to. Good luck x

I'm sorry to hear you have lost a lot of money in this. I know I want to believe there is such a thing, and I've gotten some response on here on some sites I am going to look into. That is one thing that if I find right now (and I know its going to be hard since times are tough) I want to share with others with true testimonies and proof that its legit. There are too many scams out there and I know I don't like paying for something that I'm not benefiting off of.

I totally understand, it doesn't make sense when I have 2 children and have to pay $1200/month for childcare. I have been able to make it work for me. I'm very fortunate that my husband makes good money so I'm not pressured to earn money. Yet, us SAHM would still love to contribute when we can. I have been selling hairbows, translating documents/letters for agencies and transcribing for Quicktate. With everything that I do every month, I earn $900-$3000/month. I do everything at home and while my daughter is at school. I'm sure you can always find something to do. Don't give up and keep looking. One good site to go to is WAHM.com. That's where I found out about Quicktate. Good luck to you!

Our daycare centers in my area are horrible. My daughter will be 8 months in just a couple days and they were wanting an arm and a leg to watch her. The worst thing about it was the daycare center near my home, well the couple near my home have HORRIBLE reviews. One center was doubling kids up in cribs that weren't stable. A couple cribs being used were on the verge of breaking. A lot of mothers are trying to take legal action against them. I have been to the WAHM.com site before and they had a couple survey sites I tried. My biggest problem I have found with those was I didn't "qualify" to do the survey and then it didn't pay. Instead I was entered into a sweepstake. I'll have to check into the the Quicktate. My biggest thing is I want to find people similar to myself who have done the work and have received pay for it so I in turn know its legit! Thanks for your info!

i understand your feelings exactly. I'm a mom have a little son,i have a job but few income. I am finding a job could working in home all along. I think if I can working in home, I will care my family more perfectly and have more time play with my son, give him more love ,meantime can get some income to my family. I've ever has an idea that established a web-shop to sell some children's garments or other goods of children. But resignation for me need a big courage, moreover, do anything should single-minded,I continuously hesitation.
