I heard that if a person who is depressed or upset eats chocolates he will really start feeling better and positive. Is this true?

I don't think eating a lot of it will help serious depression. But chocolate does make you feel happy in a small boost, there are some chemicals in there that act similar to serotonin, so you feel a bit happier eating it. Try to avoid the sugary kinds though, as it can give you a sugar high and then lows. You could try a bit of dark chocolate if you like it, has the biggest concentration of these 'happy' chemicals in it.

I do feel that it's helping me. I have low sugar levels and low blood pressure. So, to keep going, I need something sweet here and there. Chocolate makes me feel good, energetic so, yes, it makes me happy and productive. Anyhow, I love chocolate anytime of the day, and it does not really matter if I need my energy levels raised. I eat chocolate, just for the taste. The best, I like the white chocolate, only that it has no caffeine in it, as does the dark chocolate. Plus, there is a lot of talk, that eating dark chocolate, orevents and fight cancer. Goes, for me!!

I have heard the same thing and chocolate does make me feel better when I am down or depressed. It works for me therefore I would recommend trying it and see for yourself. Some things that help some people do not help others.

I found this website that says that for people who are stressed or clinically depressed it may worsen it. They say it is a myth that chocolate can act as an antidepressant. Here is the link (NOT A REFERRAL LINK) SO you can read a little more into it if you like =) http://www.abc.net.au/science/news/stories/s1600205.htm

I've heard chocolate has some chemical or substance that makes a person feel a feeling like they're falling in love. I suppose chocolate can help temporarily, but someone like me would probably get more depressed from gaining weight from eating chocolate.

I not sure that It helps overcome depression. But It does have natural chemicals in it that help you feel like your in a better mood. And the antioxidants are good for you to. So I wouldnt say they help depression or anything like that just are kind of a mood pick me up in short doses.
