Video chat: Have you tried it?

I've had my laptop for almost a year now and it has a built-in webcam. I haven't actually used the webcam and now I'm thinking I should use it for video chatting. Have you tried video chatting before and what sites or chatrooms do you visit?

Well I tried video chat with my friend and it was ok.. only sometimes if the connection is not good..basically the video shutter.

Right. Internet connection should be good since it's basically streaming video.

I have used the webcam in my laptop and it works really well. I was very impressed. Video chat can be fun...but be wary as well. There are problems that can creep up in ones life because of them.

Yep, but I use video chatting for my uncle and auntie and some of my cousins and my best friend only 'cause they're abroad. I mean, I don't use it to someone I just chatted like yesterday or someone who I just met in a chatroom 'cause I'm not really comfortable 'bout that. Anyways, it's fun though. Me and my uncle would chat for like an hour or so; sometimes the voice signal gets a bit choppy but other than, it's great.

yeah. It's pretty understandable if you don't want to show yourself on video to someone you don't know.

I use skype or yahoo messenger when video chatting with my friends. I think skype is actually better than yahoo messenger. Skype has more cool features and is more user-friendly.

The funny thing is I just found out very recently that its possible to chat with video on skype. I really am an old timer. tsk, tsk, tsk. Anyway, thanks and have a good one.

ya i have tried video chat and i really feel it is really cool.i have webcam in my laptop and i tell you if there is someone you love who stays away this the most useful thing in the whole world..i stay away from the love of my life.the only way we feel we are together is video chat.. i generally take up yahoo messenger as it is the easiest to start a video chat in that............ i hope you find good use of the webcam you have..........

Yes..I use it to talk to my grandkids and my kids....one lives in New York...one in Arizona and I live in Minnesota.....also when my little granddaugher comes over we hook up so the cousins can talk to each other!

Sometimes Using your webcam to break the Ice with someone your chatting with is a nice release.. weve all been there chatting with the guy or girl that seems to be a dream come true and wanting to see what they look like without physically meeting them for the fear of it going bad.. I know its happened to me, and I require that people do a cam session or phone session for a while before meeting.. as far as Video caming sites I dont know of any, well any that are any good.. but I use Ichat for my web camming needs :)
