Hi, do you use the post-it note quite often? when study or at work ? This little invention was created quite accidently. In the 1970s researchers at 3M company were working on different types of adhesives and one particularly weak. Employees were asked if they could think of a use for it so that it could be reused. One suggestion was that it could be applied to a piece of paper to use as a bookmark. Another use was found when the product was attatched to a report which was to be sent to a colleague with a request for comments on the report. The colleague made his comments on the paper attached to the report and returned the report. The idea of POST-IT-NOTE was born. Though innovative, it was not sold well in test cities because customers were not familiar with it. After salesmen demostrate the product office to office, a week later when salesmen returned to those office, orders hailed. And during the following decades, post-it-note in different colors, sizes, shapes have been developed. Little inventions often derive from men's daily life.

when i was still working in the office, post-it notes come handy. i handled four companies and for me not to forget what needs to be done, phone calls to be returned, everything is written in a post it. each company has an assigned post it color. so you could imagine my table and the white board on my wall. it worked efficiently for me and i feel a bit relieved whenever i see all those notes one by one finding its way to the trashcan... it means one task accomplished. but not that i do office at home, i do still have post-it notes but i don't use it quite often. i guess i don't want my home office to look messy :) i instead use old calling cards (my husband got 2 decks of them) i write on the back and have a little box with a label things to do.

I love post it notes. They come in varied sizes, colors. Different shapes. They also come in tabs and prelabeled sayings to put on work, or business papers. They are great to have around. Thank you for sharing how they were invented. I never knew that. great topic

Hi Tudors, I started to use post its during my work day. They really came in handy as we had to use them as tags, giving each section a number. I am in inventory so this was a daily ritual. I think we had the company going full force on these little sticky pieces of paper. (Boy, do I wish I invented them!) Now that I have been using these daily at work, I also look around here in my office at home and there are a few hanging around my desk and computer. When I go into the kitchen, I will see some on my refridgerator too. I think they are becoming more and more a part of every day life.

I LOVE POST IT NOTES!!! I also love how they come in sooooo many different shapes and colors and designs. It can make a note so personalized!!! I also love how they came out with the bigger poster sized post it paper. I can't think of what they are called but you can use them for presentations and what not and you don't have to worry about finding tape or whatever to stick it to the wall!!! It gets me upset sometimes when i don't have post its at my desk....so much harder to give messages to people. I would much rather keep a post it than a torn off corner of paper!

I love post it notes and have several different sizes and colors in my office! I have notes on them all over the place and use them on a daily basis. In fact, now I wonder what I would do WITHOUT them! They are just a fun way to make a little note and stick it wherever you need to for a reminder! The colors are bright and attractive also! Have a great day!

Little inventions often change life. I didn't use that many post-it-note before. Now I need them often because I have been writing my dissertation lately and I need to read books and make some notes. This little things are just too useful to remind me daily stuff too. Tap it on the wall and I will not forget things.

Post-it-notes, ahhhh a great mistake! Yes, I use them all the time, everywhere at home. I don't work so I don't use them there. I've got a pad of them on my side of the couch end table with a pen. This way I can make a note about a tv program, a website I want to visit, or jot down phone notes. I have another pad and a pen right long side my pc, so I can note passwords, numbers, and info I find in posts that I want to further research. I also have a pad in my crochet bag, I stick one under the line of instructions I'm at on a pattern, and I can also keep track of any notes or changes I have made. And in the kitchen for when I'm running low or out of something. They are also great for leaving notes for family, kids, or spouse, those I put right on the TV screen, that way I KNOW it will be seen. Whether or not its followed, maybe a different story but It does get read. I like the neon pink ones and I usually get the 21/2 in. square ones. The color stands out so its easier to notice. They are also great to use as bookmarks or in cookbooks so you can mark your favorite recipes without having to always search for them. The smaller ones work good for putting on prescription bottles as to when or what time of day you need to take the medicine since some medicines look alike.

Hello there, Thanks a lot for sharing such an interesting story. Actually I was against the post it notes initially but over a period of time I realized how important the invention was. Now I am a frequent user of the notes, especially at office. I know it is the computer and mobile dominated era but I prefer doing things manually.I do not want to be so dependent on machines.

I use post it notes out the rear! I love those things. People at work used to get annoyed because I put post it notes on every sheet of paper I put on their desk. They would come to my desk just to tell me it wasn't necessary to do that. Ever so sorry for being overly organized haha. I now have a virtual post it pad on my desktop. I love it as well. What a great invention!!

thanks for sharing the story behind the cute post-it notes. well, i use those quite often because i'm kinda forgetful so i try hard to remind myself of the things i have to do by posting those beside my bed, so it's actually the first thing i read in the morning. i'm glad it was invented because it's really helpful to people like me who forgets a lot.

Cool story. Thanks for sharing... believe it or not, i actually prefer using post it notes and organizing things the traditional, manual way... even if it's the IT era now... haha! i don't know, i just get that "organized" feeling when i use post it instead of gadgets and any digital organizer u can name of. Plus, it's more eco friendly to use post it papers than to manufacture one single electronic organizer.
