Do you think our economic problems are going to affect the online jobs also?

I have wondered about that too. I may drive a lot more applicants to the online careers. I know there are a lot of call center, virtual assistant jobs out there. I do know that the economy has really affected the newspaper business. Why buy a paper if you can get it online. So a lot of them are going out of business or severely cutting staff. I've been looking for online work myself without much success. Most of them want you to have Microsoft Office which I don't have. They seem to be locked into that $200 program even though there is an open source office program that many people think is better.

The open source programs are supposed to be just as good as you say. They handle most of the same files. I would at least install one the Open Office type of alternatives to get you started. As soon as I upgrade some of my RAM I will be doing so. Then I will have to spend some time learning as whenever I tried to learn the older versions of MS Office programs I ended up in frustration. I found them not very user friendly.

I definitely think the financial crisis will effect online jobs also. With so many people out of work and more and more loosing their jobs every day and companies closing people are going to have to try some way to make an extra buck and with no job outside the home then more and more will look inside the home and on the Internet for extra work or work of any kind. ;)

Yes it already has, I lost one of my big online writing contracts because they do not have anymore work to give out.

Since several websites have shut down due to the owner no longer having funds, I can see how online jobs would easily be affected.

Most definitely! When I first joined up with Associated Content for instance two years ago and wrote articles for them I could average about $8.00 per article. Then beginning last year would get maybe $4.00 or $5.00. My most recent articles I got a little over $2.00....sheesh. Another friend of mine complained about the very same thing...and she's been with them for awhile as well

Hi miamilady! I do believe that everyone and every business are affected with the global crisis. It may just differ in certain degrees of how much affected each sector will have. I just don't know for certain how greatly affected the online jobs are but for sure there will be some decrease of income and work. I just hope that it is not that great.
Take care and have a great day!

I do believe that it will have a knock on affect on online purchases but only a small one, as I believe that buying things online is always cheaper than buying from the high street and you can save a lot of money, people won't be so liberal with their money because of the recession, but only time will tell, maybe people will head for the internet more so to find a bargain. I think in regards to earning money online this will prove to be more popular as people find other ways to get extra money in these lean times.

I don't know. I'm thinking that places like MyLot and Gather will do well, because advetizers will keep paying to have their stuff put on sites that people will continuely visit, and people will continue to visit sites that will pay them, The way I see it, everybody wins.

It's anybody's guess how far the recession will go and how many it will affect. I would think it's quite possible that with less money to spend all round, and money being worth less, that online jobs will be affected in time, if it goes on long enough.
Brightest Blessings.

Yes, I think the online jobs will be affected. Some have already started showing signs of the effect. We are all trying to make a living. We all have bills to pay and families to support. We just have to keep working hard to make it through this time.

Yes, I do. It will always be more competitive. I have already many changes on the sites I frequent. Sad, but isn't change supposed to be a good thing? Wait it out, just like the stock market. The good ones will stick and be better for the change. The bad ones will fall away and leave only the better. Change is inevidible. Watch and be warely. What more can you or any of us do?

Hey miamilady! I haven't really done much online work yet,
but from what I am hearing it already has! It seems that the
online sights keep changing their rules and lowering their
pay and payouts. I have been looking for some good writing
sites and all I keep hearing is the pay prices keep getting
lower and you have to keep writing more and more.
