hello everybody here at Mylot.
tomorrow my family and myself will be celebrating my ten year old son's birthday. he will turn eleven tomorrow. how the time has flown since that he was born. before that i know it, he will be graduating from high school. so, tomorrow we are going to throw my son a small birthday party and have a couple of his best friends to come over and celebrate as well. so, i am fixing to bake a devil's food chocolate cake and i got chocolate fudge icing already made in the cans of the frosting. we are going to be having chili hot dogs, chips and drinks at the birthday party, and then we will eat the chocolate cake with some ice cream. yum.
so tell me, when that you have a birthday party for your children or your children get to go to somebody else's birthday party, do they, or do you, serve food like i am planning on doing tomorrow?
thanks for sharing and have a beautiful day today!

Children grow up very fast. When my kids were small I couldn't wait for them to grow up. But I regretted so much of not being there for them 24/7 as I was too busy with my restaurant business and depended on the nanny to look after them. I only come to my realization when they are no longer staying with me and are working out of town. I should have spend much of my time when they most needed me for I can no longer catch the lost time. So try to spend as much time as possible with your kid. They will grow very fast and soon they will create their own nest and we are left without having all the joy of their presence.

Happy birthday and many more to your son. Have fun at the party. Can I come? lol You're serving my favorite food. I don't remember serving food for our kid's birthday parties. Generally the party was in the afternoon between meals and we just had cake and ice cream. Been many many years since they were little so I am trying to remember details. I can recall going to a pizza place and other restaurants like McDonald's for our kids parties also.

My son will be turning 12 in May!
For the little ones we don't usually have any special foods. I just make a normal dinner, and then we have cake and ice cream after. We also don't invite anyone over anymore. We used to, and when we did I'd make a pizza and have some snacks too. But throwing parties are so expensive, so I just don't do it anymore. Now we celebrate with just us, and give them a few presents, and that's enough for them.

hello katsmeow
happy early birthday to your son this coming May! whoo hoo! and i know what you mean about throwing a birthday party. but there will probably be just four or five children that will be here tomorrow for the party. my Mom is bringing all of the things over that we need for the chili dogs, and i'm going back to the store in the morning for some last minute items that i still need to pick up before that the birthday party gets here tomorrow. thanks for responding.

every birthday of my family, i use to prepare a food that we will share the whole family in the table and even i dont have enough money i just left some extra money for their special or natal day.
I want them to know that even i am busy i will give my effort for them and be happy , not because we are not rich then i will not mind to them.

For my daughter's 7th birthday party this past Saturday we basically had the exact same thing you did, except we didn't have chili with the hot dogs, and I got a Littlest Pet Shop cake at Walmart. She wanted hot dogs and her favorite chips, her cake and ice cream. She had a few of her friends over and every one had a fun time. One party my kids went to, the parents served finger foods, which I have done in the past. For a two hour party, I don't see the point in going over board on food, especially when most of the kids won't eat in the first place. Also when the parents don't even stay around to eat either.
Next year, I think I will do the same, except with a cake, I'm going to do the cupcakes again, because it was a huge hit and easier to serve.

Happy belated B-day to your son TnWoman! I hope he had a great 11th birthday and the party went well! Man... that cake sounds sinful with ALL of that yummy chocolate! Wow... I bet those kids were flying high after eating that! LoL!
My son is 14 now, 5'11 & 1/2" tall & wears a size 13 men's shoe! He is growing like a weed, to say the least! When people ask me how he got that tall, I just say "I dunno, but he eats a lot of pizza!" LoL!
Talk to you later & have a good night,
Jill

Hi TnWoman! Yes I do serve food at my girls' birthday party. I usually go with pizza as it saves me time in the kitchen. I'll be celebrating my daughters 11th in July. The time does fly. I usually make a big deal out of their birthdays. They love having a special day set aside just for them. Happy birthday to your son and have a great day.

Happy birthday to your son! I don't have any children so I haven't organized any birthday parties of any sort. But I would imagine if I have children, I would definitely organize birthday celebrations with them. Have fun!

I always liked this type of party best. The large ones with a lo of children and just cake and ice cream with games are best for the parents of all the other children, they get free babysitting for a couple of hours.

Happy birthday to your son!I'm new here and this is my first response at MyLot,my English is poor,so if i make some mistakes,it is not intentionally.
I have no extra monney for my parents' birthday gift, because i'm a student now.But when my parents' birthday is coming,i always cook meal for them, and do something that could make them feel happy.
I like chocolate cake, too.I want to bake a cake for my mother in the future.
