United States

Yay Me! I weighed this morning and I've now lost 24 pounds in 6 weeks. So, on average that's about 4 pounds a week. I've been watching my calorie intake and exercising and it is totally paying off. I'm so excited about losing this weight and I can't wait to get another 24 pounds off. I want to lose atleast 50 more pounds and I am so determined to do it! No one is going to hold me back on this one! Determination and having the right frame of mind is the only way to lose weight. Yes, it is hard, but if it is something that you really want to do then you have to be determined to make it happen. Have you been dieting lately? Have you lost any weight? What's your weight loss story?

4 pounds is a great start! Keep up the good job and you will be at 24 pounds before you know it! I've just been counting calories. I try not to consume more than 1,600 calories a day. I have a very physically demanding job so it helps me burn off quite a few calories per day. I've been walking on my 30 minute lunch. I just walk around the factory that I work at. I've also been doing other exercises at home, crunches, leg lifts, etc. It really is paying off for me! Good Luck reaching your weight loss goal!

GOOD FOR YOU!! thats fabulous!!! I actually weighed myself this morning on a whime and I'm down 2 lbs BUT I've not been dieting or working out lately...I start up again soon though and hopefully I'll drop the last 20 that I want to get rid of... I had topped out at 206lbs a couple yrs ago which FOR ME is MASSIVE....and I started doing things like cutting out sugars, being more mobile, working out when time, health and whatnot allowed etc and I lost 30 lbs or so in a yrs time which was nice....that was a few yrs ago...now I'm bouncing between 160-165 and am looking to lose another 20lbs or so by tanning season LOL...IF I ever get my b.utt in gear and back on track I'll drop it super quick though so thats good..

That is fantastic - congratulations on your success! Are you following any particular plan? I started a new plan on New Year's Day and have lost 20 pounds so far - with a lot more to go.

I'm just trying not to consume more than 1,600 calories per day. I walk daily and also do many exercises daily. I do occasionally have days that I go a little over on my calories or I don't have time to get in a long exercise program, but I try to keep active every day. I've actually been trying to cut down on my time on the internet and focus more on being physically active. I'm currently taking walks on my 30 minute lunch break at work. I just walk around the factory. It is a really nice walk. I try to drink only water, so that helps cut out a whole lot of my calorie consumption. Good luck with you weight loss program and keep up the great work!

Congrats to you on your weight loss. Keep up the good work! I've been dieting and exercising since March, 2008 and have lost 64 pounds to date. I also have been watching what I eat, drinking LOTS of water (which is VERY important) and exercising daily. I am now only 24 pounds away from my goal weight :) My only son is getting married in May and I want to look good in his wedding pictures. That has been an inspiration to me to keep me focused on my weight loss goal. Please know that the more you have to lose the faster it comes off in the beginning. Once you start getting closer to your goal weight the weight loss does slow down. But don't lose heart keep working hard and stay focused and you WILL get to your goal. I just don't want you to be disappointed when the weight loss slows to 1-2 pounds a week. 4 pounds a week is a LOT to lose and that rate may not continue. They say slow weight loss is BEST and healthiest and that people who lose weight slowly are more apt to keep it off rather than those that do the radical weight loss programs and drop the weight very quickly. I wish you all the best on your weight loss journey. Stay focused and NEVER lose sight of your goal. CONGRATS to you again as I know losing weight is hard and should never be considered a minor accomplishment. BE VERY PROUD OF YOUR SUCCESS!! (I am)

I'm happy to hear that you have been successful in your weight loss. That is great! I do know that I'm apt to slow down on how many pounds I lose a week, but getting it off is great and no matter how long it takes me, I'm gonna do it! Thanks for the comment!

That's awesome GOOD FOR YOU. I lost about 9 pounds in 2 month but I don't exercise at all. That's about 1 pound a week. For me that's good course I love to eat junk. I want to loose 10 more pound by April 5th, that's when my dad and Brother come to visit. How many calories do you eat?

I am still thin now but I am a bit out of exercise since I am getting lazy because of the computer. Keep it up and I assure you that this Summer you will have a figure that you never had before.

Hi, there you are. I actually started a discussion the other day, but not really much happening. Still doing the flirting. I don't really think he is interested, but I'm determined if anyone is going to do any asking out then it will have to be him. I want a man to ask me out for once so I know he is TRULY interested in me. I think this week, I'm going to lay off the flirting and see what he does. Maybe I've been too pushy for him besides, I figure if he doesn't ask then he wasn't worth my time anyway and if he does then it was meant to be. I joined the local YMCA yesterday and today myself and a friend went to work out. It was great! I had so much fun and plus there were A WHOLE LOT of men around. My friend kept teasing me saying, "Your gonna find a man here, I can just feel it". So, I guess we will just see what happens. It' in God's Hands, but yeah, I really do want to date my FedEx guy, but he might not be that Prince Charming that you are always telling me about.

Well, congratulations to you. I have seen people trying to lose weight but have not been successful. As you have said, it is not easy. But then of course, determination is the key. I have not reached a point that I became very fat. I am very active since I work with the SWAT unit in our city as a medic, I also do a lot of training for safety since I am a safety instructor. Despite not doing a lot of exercise, I guess my work makes me fit.

Wow That is great! Congratulations! My story ahs bengoing on for about 3 years. I have lost 105 pounds by using weight watchers. I reached my goal about 6 months ago and now I amjust holding steady which is what I want to do. Isn't it amazing how the whole excercise and eating right routine makes you feel better too? I think back to 3 years ago and I am amazed at how much healthier I am living now and the difference it has made in how I feel. Good Luck and again Congratulations!

That is great to hear! Congratulations! I wish I was that determined. My goal was/is to lose 3.5 lbs every two weeks and I couldn't even do that! I think in the last two weeks I only lost 1 lb. Sad huh! I want to lose it so bad, yet I do nothing about it. I just have days where I am so lazy that I don't want to do anything. Calorie watching, I wouldn't even know where to start with that. I mean really, do you look at the calories on everything you eat and only eat so much? Is it 2,000 your suppose to eat in a day? So if you eat 1,900 by luch time, does that mean you pretty much starve till the next day? I could never count calories. I like food too much. I could work on lowering my helpings, but if it's good I eat becaue I don't like the taste of leftovers. I guess I need to view things differently if I actually wanted the pounds to start coming off.

I actually do look at how many calories are in everything I eat and drink. When I'm cooking I look to see how many calories are in all my ingredients and do the figuring on how many calories are in each helping. It really does pay off. I've learned to spread my calories out. I figure how many calories I want to eat each meal and I always try to make sure I have a few calories left over for a couple snacks if I want. It is time consuming in a way, but it really can pay off.

Well, before I became pregnant I was dieting and exercising. After going to 242 pounds back in 2006 from being pregnant I became dedicated to LOSE THAT WEIGHT! I was very successful and got down to 147 and a size 6. If I could give anyone advice about dieting it would be to watch what you eat and exercise like crazy. Starting out with an exercise program is hard at first, but once you get into the routine you become addicted. Exercise is a great way to get rid of stress instead of eating your way out of it. Joining a gym was what I did and every penny that I spent going to it was well worth all the money! I have done better with this pregnancy about watching my weight and trying to walk. I would do more than walking, but a big belly doesn't help you do much when it comes to pregnancy and exercise. So, it will be back to the losing weight game and I hope to lose down even more than what I had before this baby. Good luck to you on losing the rest of your weight. Do not let anyone talk you out of quiting and if you haven't joined a gym and can afford it I completely recommend it for you. You will love it!

Yes, I started this diet out at 230, now I'm down to 206. I want to lose atleast 50 more pounds. I'm sure I could probably stand to lose more, but this is my current goal, when I reach it then I will set a new goal. Pregnancy can really take a toll on your body, so I totally understand what you are talking about. I gained 45 pounds with my daughter, but managed to only gain 15 pounds with my son. I actually joined the local YMCA yesterday and today I went and worked out on the treadmill and bike. It was great. You can even watch television while you walk on the treadmill, it's awesome! I love it and I can't wait to go back tomorrow. You are right, it is VERY addicting!

That is GREAT!! You will completely fall in love with the YMCA. I may actually look into joining them when this little boy arrives around the end of May. It is also really good that you are setting goals. I would set goals of only 5 pounds at a time and then it would all add up. I believe that we can achieve a goal much better if we do not exaggerate on what they can be. Start out small and then you will end BIG! You may also try the South Beach Diet, it worked wonders for me to get rid of belly fat. Is hard at first, but if you stay motivated then it works and you don't feel so bloated and stuff. I learned to just cut out all carbs for two weeks and sugar and boy what a difference that made with my stomach. After two weeks you just add back in the good carbs and one serving of a fruit. In the end it comes down to three servings of a good carb and three servings of a fruit along with all the veggies and lean meat that you can eat, but not overeat. Just a thought, but whatever works for you to keep it off is good. Each person is different in their own way especially when dieting!

Determination is the biggest factor. I'm determined to lose the weight. I count my calories and only eat 1,600 calories a day and I exercise A LOT! Yes, it's hard work, but it is totally paying off for me!

Good for you! I have always been underweight and trust me...gaining is difficult too. I worked very hard to reach a weight that I could stay stable at and not look entirely anorexic. I could eat anything and just did not gain but if I did not eat enough and lost weight beyond a certain point...I would have to again struggle to get it back up. Kind of backwards ...huh? Well you can imagine my problem when a few years back, I was on some meds. that caused me to gain weight. Initially the doctor told me that I would probably gain a few pounds but chuckled and said....looks like you could use it anyway. Oh I did gain a few pounds. At first I was thrilled! But then....I gained like 40 more. not so thrilled. It took me a very long time to turn my eating habits around...and go the other way! At one point, I weighed as much as I did when I had on of my kids. Like you, I excersised and watched my diet...I walked a lot and drank tons of iced water. It took so so long and then suddenly the pounds started just melting off. Good job!

Thanks! My mother is underweight. She eats and eats and eats but just doesn't gain any. I wish she could put on some pounds because like you said, you can look anorexic. I guess weight problems go both ways, those who weigh too much and those who don't weigh enough.

Good for you, is it because of some Fedex guy ??? lol. Its always a pleasure losing weight and Im sure you are delighted. So am I. I cant stick to diet very rigidly and end up eating sweets. Woe my sweet tooth. I dont exercise too. Just walk to work in the mornings and that too not regularly, depending on my house chores. Keep it up. Good luck always.

Yahoo, way to go singlemommy. You have really motivated me to get on the bandwagon. My problem is I don't really drink enough water. If I can get that water intake in and leave the sodas along I could do it. The sodas are my weekness. Keep up the good work. Don't stop and good luck on making it to your goal.
