What age would you allow your child to wear make-up? I have seen girls as young as 7 wear make-up for everyday use. What about boys? There is a boy that I know to be 9 wearing black eyeliner.

well i know parents have different beliefs and methods of raising and disciplining their kids, and i respect that. i have my own thoughts and ways as well. as for makeup, i basically don't view it as something bad or negative to be played with (by little girls i mean), even as young as like, 4 maybe, as long as they're not wearing it excessively. Anyway kids makeup are really different from the type that's manufactured for adults. it's lighter in texture and easily wears off. i don't think i'd allow little girls to wear adults makeup though, there might be some hazards to it and it just looks ridiculous (imagine a kid wearing a marilyn monroe face?)... Unless it's required for a school play I guess, now that's an exception!

There is play make up that my little ones play with. My 9 yr old wears lip gloss. I just asked her and she said 16 was good. Then she said never was ok too because it can be bad for your skin. I think kids as young as 7 or 9 should still be playing, not acting like grown ups. Everyone has their own thoughts on parenting but I personally think that kids should be kids for as long as they can be.

My girls are much older, but I've been through this with them. I think society is making girls grow up too fast, and letting them adorn themselves with makeup at such an early age places more importance on their looks than just being a kid while they have the chance. I never let my girls wear makeup until they were out of grade school, and into middle school. While I didn't mind them playing dress-up, and using make up then, I wouldn't let them go out of the house with it on. When they're that young, they should be putting their efforts into their schoolwork, and having a fun childhood. I can't even imagine what a mother would be thinking to let little boys wear eye liner, unless they're hoping them to become a drag queen or in the theater lol. Makes you wonder...is it the Mom's who want their kids to grow up too fast, or don't they know how to say 'no' to kids and peer pressure?

I think junior high or middle school is old enough to start wearing makeup..and for boys....come on! I wouldn't have let my son out of the house wearing make up unless he was going to a halloween party!

My girls are 12 & 13, I allow them to wear alittle. I feel the age 16 or 17 is okay for more make up accesories. But I boy with eye liner at the age of 9 wow. Thats different. For boys maybe 16 or 17 would be appropiate if thats what they like.
