This is just downright evil

Spring ahead
Fall back
The falling back part is easy. I can sleep an extra hour and pretend it's earlier than it is. But the spring ahead thing is as bad as jetlag. I wake up and it's supposedly later than it should be but in reality I've been deprived of one hour of sleep. And guess what! Here in the US it is coming the 2nd week in March. Used to happen in April. Dawn is going to be tired and grumpy a whole month earlier than usual. That's just evil!

As an early morning riser, I love daylight savings time. I get up early anyway only now it will be 4:00AM instead of 3:00 and everybody knows anyone who get up at 3AM when they don't have to must be crazy so I get to stay out of the asylum for a few more months.

It's not just evil it's unhealthy. They've done studies and found that there are more heart attacks in the three days following the spring forward time change than there are any other days of the year. Presumably it's because of the stress from the sleep disruption.
Not only is it coming earlier now but the fall back extra out of sleep has been delayed to Nov. The reason for extending daylight savings time supposedly has to do with energy consumption and cost savings.
I have to get up at 5:30 am on Mondays so I'm not looking forward to next weekend.

LOL--dawn you're not the only one who is going to be grumpy...heehee. It takes me a full month to get used to the new time and you're right, they for some reason, moved the change a whole month earlier...oh, joy...NOT Why do we have to have this shat in the first place? It's outdated. They started it during the war years (WWI) to have more daylight hours for factory workers or some nonsense like that

Oh Gosh it's that time of the year again already. I didn't know it was coming up as quick as it is. So thanks for reminding me so that I can be in preparation for it coming about sooner than I anticipated.

hello dawnald
i hear ya about daylight savings time coming up this weekend. what you said about the daylight savings time being like jetlag was so funny. lol and i know it, where did our hour go? it is like it just vanishes into thin air or something like that while that we are sleeping. and yes, daylight savings time used to be from April till October and now it is from March till November? so this coming Sunday morning the new daylights savings time will be into effect. right? lol so everybody needs to set their clocks ahead one hour on Saturday night before that you go to bed and when that you wake up on Sunday morning, you'll have the correct time. all that i know is that i am sure ready for Spring time and warmer weather to be here.
take care and have a beautiful afternoon.

Dawn if you dont like daylight savings time, you could always move to Arizona, They dont set their clocks back at all. its always the same there. I kinda wish i lived there again . Not just because of daylight savings times but that is one reason.

That's OK. It would probably be easier to move than to have CA's legislators implement common sense!

That sounds like a great idea except for the moving part! I moved from LA to Sacramento three years ago and the idea of doing it again just leaves me cold. Not to mention that I promised the kids I wouldn't move them away from their friends again!

I know... I know, I'm gonna be grumpy too but, is that really much of a change from my regular self?! LoL I'm not looking forward to the time change & losing an hour of sleep either Dawn. It's just notttt fair. :(
And, to top it off... I think it's going to be "that time of the month" then for me too! UGH!

It's bad enough with one hormonal pre-teen in the house. Better that I'm past all that!

Now that is a bad combination! lol
I might be, maybe, crossing fingers, to the point where I don't have to deal with "that time of the month" any more. Hooray if it's true!

I don't even notice it ;-) I'm up before the clock rings anyway. I like the fact that it's daylight longer in the evening - but since it'll be daylight 24 hours a day soon it doesn't make much a different up here in the north - I would say that we could have 20 hour long days in october - feb and than longer days the rest of the year *lol*
As Ceci said it's not time for us here in Sweden (and the whole European Commiunity) until the last Sunday in March. I think it will be hard to get the children ready for school, but that's it!

Not another morning person! If I'm up before the alarm, it's because I can't sleep, in which case I'm not at all happy about it!

Personally, I think the time should be left alone. I don't really see how it benefits anything to move it back and forth like that.

You know it's odd, I'm a night owl, but Springing forward always makes me get up earlier. Yep, you read right, for some odd reason when we spring forward, I'm getting up earlier. It's happened since high school, but apparently my internal clock resets itself for Spring. That's not to say that I don't love that extra hour come Fall, but man, it's strange to find yourself staring at the clock and realizing that you're up an hour earlier than usual.
Do I think Springing forward is evil? Um, yeah. I don't like waking up in the dark. Either metaphorically or literally.

I don't like waking up in the dark either, but for me it's definitely the sleep deprivations. I'm a wuss without my 7 - 8 hours on work nights and a few hours of catchup on the weekend. And the spring forward thing just messes me up!

Nah, it's the waking up in the dark, in my humble opinion. Sleep deprivation sucks, but when your reward is pitch blackness, it takes on a whole new meaning. :)

They have daylight savings here in Cairo too, but I'm completely oblivious to it! lol. I get driven to where I need to go and don't even own a watch, so time is of no consequence to me really. It sounds strange, but it honestly isn't! All I know is that my alarm goes off, I struggle to get out of bed..... I go to work..... And If I wish to eat at night, I'd better head home when that little number thing on the computer screen starts with a 6 with 2 zeroes after it! And bedtime? Well, this happens when my eyes start to get blurry!

I know exactly how you feel. I get up at 5:00 in the morning, and now I'll really be getting up at 4! It is so much harder to wake up when its pitch black dark outside. And there is no reason that we should have to be tortured for an extra month!

I think we should leave this anachronism in history where it belongs. There is no reason for it as we hve modern lightning now. Besides, half the wrold does not use DST and they get along quite weill.

ROFLOL! You are hilarious! I actually like to "spring forward" because I like it when it stays light out later. It makes you feel better about being out in the evening. It's the "falling back" that get's to me where it gets dark early and kids are walking home in the dark from after school programs and you get off from work in the dark... Right now it's getting dark around 6 PM and I can't wait to gain those extra two hours of daylight!

I like the extra light too. The months when it gets dark so early are depressing. It's just that my body doesn't handle the loss of an hour's sleep too well.

Although I cant follow your post completely, from the responses I get to know you are talking about a very funny and strange phenomenon about time or season. Something is really hard to understand. Nature is so mysterious, isn't it? Hope you will change your body clock to adjust yourself to the time change. It is evil for everyone, right?

It will be hard for me as well as anybody who 1) isn't a morning person or 2) just doesn't deal well with time changes.
