hiya all!
hubby works at a call center. he has been there for like 4 months now. but he is not happy with his work. he gets sick often. and he is depressed. sigh, i guess call center work is not for him. i was happy that he got this job. so that we will have a stable source of income, and my freelance income, which is actually bigger, will be augmented.
but now that he wants to leave his job, we need to find extra sources of income, especially that our baby is coming soon. i feel bad for my husband, i want him to be happy. but i am also torn inside. i can't tell it to him because he is already feeling down. i don't want to pressure him either.
but the thing is, i am afraid that i won;t be able to do much with the baby around. i pray to dear God to help us keep ourselves above the waters.
will let you know what happens in the coming days...
take care all and God bless you!
happy mylotting!

I am sorry that your husband does not like his job and thus wants to quit. I can understand that that line of work is not cut out for him as I feel that that kind of work is for people to whom do not mind people cursing at them, and the stress in which can be caused by that kind of work. I don't think I would be cut out for that either, which is why I always enjoyed not being at the top of a customer service chain. I just wanted to stop by and wish you and your husband luck on finding extra income. Is he opposed to making money here on mylot? Sure it's not a whole but any and all will help, and if he is referred by you, you make a little off of him. So on days or weeks, or periods of time that could be longer or shorter, that your not on here, he's still making you and him, the two of you money. So that when you come back on, you could be at payout or close to it! So it counts as a savings fund, ya know what I mean? Well I hope that my advice and good wishes have been helpful to you.
I can suggest slicethepie although I'll be honest the music is hardly suitable, but money is money sometimes, and you'll get it how you can as long as it doesn't go against your beliefs and standards.
Have a wonderful day!

hi girl!
he is not opposed to earning money here in mylot. actually he is a member here. but i think he only posted several times because it takes a lot of effort for him to think about what to say to a certain, let alone start one. we were thinking, on his free time and with the baby, he can type while i tell him what to write. lol
anyway, thank you so much for your input and your sympathy. i am encouraged. :D

I think that that would be a good idea as well. I know that I have helped my fiance on here a few times with what to write when he's lost inspiration. I hope that you can get things sorted out, have a wonderful day!

I agree with ranacseruet, a work at home gig is worth trying. I'll add Rentacoder to the recommendation, I've done some work there, and got paid. It's not only for programmers, some of my paid work were writing gigs (technical writing that is), they actually did send payment via western union (to the Philippines). There are other work-at-home out there, like ODesk etc, but I haven't tried them.
Good luck.

I will truly be Praying for your situation and believe that God is in control and can get you guys thru this situation. I too work in a Call Center helping people who need Cabs. I know how stressful the job can be at times to make you want to leave there, and since I am Diabetic I am always sick or have to worry about the littlest thing where I am at as well.
All I can say in this tough Economic times tell him to hang in there. Jobs are very hard to come by, and he needs to always remember this one as well. If you are a praying couple say some Prayers and believe God in no matter what happens he is in control, and everything that will happen is for the best.

I can understand your husband's situation. Call center may be a good paying career but it takes a lot of courage and perseverance to survive it since you have to make tough decision and customer relations skills in it. Plus the fact that its on a night shift which is doubly hard if you are not used to work on a graveyard shift. I have lots of friends and relatives who also gave up on that job because of the same reason your husband is experiencing. But the pay is really big compared to other regular jobs.

I hate to say this, but whether he likes his job or not, it is not a good time to quit a job without having another one to walk right in to. You are right to be worried about it because chances are you won't have a lot of time on your hands when your baby is born.
If I were you, I would really encourage your hubby to stick with it while he is looking for something else, and only quit once he has. I hate to think of anybody disliking their job that much, but sometimes, the best thing to do is to just stick it out until something better comes along.

I know how hard it is to work in a call center, especially if you're not enjoying your job. But, your husband need to understand that it's not just about him anymore.. he's got you and your baby to take care of. And from what I heard, parents always find it effective to see their child as their inspiration at work.. I'm sure your hubby can do that.
But if he still wants to resign, I suggest he find a new one first before leaving his current job. His responsibility and obligations as a father and a husband should be his main concern.
Hope this helped!!

What kind of work does he like to do (or can at least get into)? I can toss several different recommendations your way but if he's not into them it would be useless.

Hi spoiled,
I hope he can find another job in the area. I know how tough it is working in a call center since I have friends who are in that field and I tell you, it wasn't also healthy for them. A lot of stress more on emotional because of the nature of job...
It will be tough but maybe you can start a little business or whatever you want to pursue this time, wish you all the best!

hey friend
Let me recommend something to you ok? There's a book by Dennis and Barbara Rainey called "Building your Mates Self-Esteem" The Rainey's are Christian Counselors and have written dozens of books and conduct Family Life Marriage Conferences.
When my husband came to me several years ago and informed me that he was miserable and wanted to quit his job, I was devastated! Our marriage went through some horrible times, and we have some scars that I wish weren't there. I wish I'd known about this book then, because I said some hurtful things to him then that I can't take back.
IF you don't already, I also recommend starting a time every day to devotions as a couple. There are so many great things out there...including the Love Dare (the basis of the movie Fireproof), Moments Together (also by Dennis and Barbara Rainey)...take a look at www.store.familylife.com or www.lifeway.com if you don't have a Christian Book store in your area. Many second hand book stores will also have these.

We are here to pray for you and your husband. I just really hope that your husband will be able to find a new job which really works for him, just in case he already decided to leave his present job.
Sometimes, there are really jobs that we tend to get drained, most likely due to stress and after that long hours of work.
I hope your baby will come out healthy and happy!! God bless

Well, i know how hard it is to be working on a call center because most of the time people are working on a graveyard shift.. my hubby used to be a call center agent before but he decided to quit because of the (too much)pressure he was getting from work.. you're expecting a baby right? well, i know what you're feeling right now.. your husband should have found a new job before quitting his call center work.. he should have thought of the consequences before calling it quits most especially now that he's going to be a father soon.. wish you all the best!

The last thing your husband needs to do is quit this job- especially with a baby on the way. I know how awful call center work is- I did it for 3 years. And I have been looking for a full time job for 2 years and still have not found one. He should find another job before he quits.

This is a difficult decision. There is no perfect job in the world. I know how suffering it is to work in the call center. As everyday you receive lots of calls, and some are even from the crazy people who always complain about everything. But you have to be patient and polite to your clients anyway. Probably this is why your husband feels depressed about his job. I think your husband can try to find another job when he has his job right now. Once he finds it, then he quit this job. So at least your family still has a stable income. Wish you a healthy baby and all the best!

Call center will really wear your body down coz of it's graveyard shift. The salary is high but your body will pay the consequences. It doesn't suit for married people mostly if they got children. Try to find other jobs on a day shift that suits his credentials. He may find some online jobs but it's not that stable compare to office works..
