Anybody ever sell their car? I am in the process of doing that right now. I have only had the car for about 6 weeks. I should never have bought it but I needed a car. I really don't like it and while it runs good I want to try and get what I paid for it. I listed it on craigslist and said I will only show it on the weekend. so of course some stupid guy calls up and wants to see it now. can't people read? then of course it is going to ruin my weekend cause people will say they are coming and then don't show. I wish there was an easier way!! I wish I could just trade it in but I will get more money selling it on my own.

Yes you will be best to sell it on your own, people will
just be people and call any way or just ignore what your
request are. You just have to be firm and set your appointment
and kinda interview them to. I've sold a car both way's where
I had them come to my house and put my car on a lot that sold
it from their lot for small fee, lucky the few people who came
to my house were all good, plus I had their name and lic. #
before they came so I could check them out and then copied their
info before they could test drive the car with me in it of course
never can be to careful right. It can be a process to endure.

i'm really afraid of someone test-driving it. what if they crash it? i know i am just being paranoid but this process is so stressful.

i had sold one car before to a car dealer and i lost lots of money for it... it is always better to sell the car privately rather to a dealer because we can get more money... but we are just too lazy at that time and we just want to get rid of the car in a hurry... that's the only experience i have selling a car... good luck with yours... hopefully you can sell it with the price that you want... take care and have a nice day...

Unfortunately, you will not receive as much for it as a trade in somewhere, even though they may make it look like it on paper. I am glad you realize that NuttyMomma. A lot of people don't and really expect to get as much or more than it is worth because of the commercials on television.
I myself, used to sell used cars, and a lot of times I would just tell people they would get more for a vehicle selling it to an individual. It probably lost me a few sales but it earned me respect.

i wish i could trade it in but with no job no one is going to give ME a car loan and I really don't have a lot of money to spend. you sound like you were honest as a salesman. i just wish it was an easier process! i guess i learned that purchasing a car is not like buying shoes, you can't just take it back if you change your mind! lol!

Since you're a member of mylot I'm going to share a private buyer's secret with you because my ex used to buy and sell a lot of vehicles. When someone comes to look at your car they are going to find every little thing they can find to insult it. They are going to try to convince you that it's not worth what you're asking for it, that it's a terrible car and that no one is going to buy it so you'd better just take their low ball offer and let them be on their way. Don't be fooled. Hold out for what you want. Good luck.
