Do you cook or eat out?

I work full time from 8 to 4 everyday, and I have to cook everyday too for me and my husband.. It has become quite tiring after some times.. it feels like I almost have no time for myself. usually, After work I will prepare the dinner (and the lunch for take away the next day), and then we will eat dinner... and then usually after that we will have church activities or music practice... and then go to sleep.. the next day.. wake up and its the same thing all over... I will do my grocery shopping on the weekends for the whole week. I found that it is cheaper by quite a lot (I spent around $50 AUD per week for food) compared by buying take aways and stuff everyday (it will cost around $30 AUD per day for both of us!!) SO question is : do you normally cook ? or do you purchase take aways? What is your reason ?

I like to cook normally but to eat out sometimes is not bad especially during paydays or dates. Trying out a new dish is great experience! then next time you can cook something like that too, right?

Hi there, It's quite an interesting topic that you have. I'm married like you and I'm a full time house wife. I cook almost every day even Saturday and Sunday. I really love it. Sometimes, I try a new recipe so that I can cook something special for my husband. We've been married for 1 year and I even cook for his lunch. That way we can save a lot as you've said. For another benefit I think you can cook healthy food while if you buy the take away meal all the time I think it's quite bad for your health and it is expensive too. I usually do my grocery in bulk once in three weeks. I normally go to the market every Saturday. That way, you can save petrol too. I always make a shopping list so that I know what to buy and I won't miss a thing and I always think ahead what menu I will make for three weeks. I quite enjoy it, though lately I've lost my idea to make a different menu each week. lol

I cook and work full time, so know its not easy. The thing that has helped me the most is my crock pot. Its an easy way to make a healthy meal and it cooks while I'm working. Its how I make chicken most of the time. I buy crock pot liners, so there are less dishes to wash.

Hi luckydolphin98, I guess I am fortunate in that I have home cooked food usually during the weekdays. For weekends, we normally have takeaways. I am not the one cooking so I won't complain. Not that I have anything to complain though. I am fine with the food situation as it is. Cheers!

I am working full time but I allot portion of my time everyday to cook meals for my family. I usually do the grocery at weekends for a 1 week food supply and I plan ahead the recipes that I will serve. Cooking enhances my skills and my creativity in the food preparation. It saves also money compared to take aways wherein oftentimes I am thinking that the food I get is not commensurate to the amount I paid and sometimes i am not satisfied with the foods. Quite weird really.

Well my daily routine is very much like yours, only my timings are 10 in the morning to 6 in the evening. By the time I return home at around 7 in the evening, I have little energy left in me. However, with a growing child to feed, I prefer home cooking to outside food. Since I get a little more time in the morning, I prepare the dinner then and just heat it up at night. It also saves a lot of money….surprisingly, we get outside food on holidays or weekends as I am too relaxed to do anything at all, especially cooking!

We cook when we can. There are times when we can't. I know it might be because I'm working all day, and I need to eat. However, mostly we eat at home these days.

Mainly we eat at home - since we're two adults and three children it's expensive to eat out. We buy a lot of food for the home about $500 every month but that's brakfast and dinner for the whole weeks + lunch for me and my husband during the weeks (the kids eat at school) and lunch for the weekends. I wish it was cheaper to eat out, since I start to be fed up with the cooking. This year I hope I will be abled to grow more vegetables and make the starage ready for it in our hose - even if I'll have to buy vegetables, I can buy them when they are cheap like carrots in the fall and onions whne they cost a lot less than now in the winter. Home made food are often a lot tastier as well and more healty as well!

We cook much more than we eat out. For us, eating out is reserved for those times when we just do not have the time to cook at home.

I don't have a job so i spend most of my time at home.. one of the things i'm always doing at home is cooking.. i love to cook.. though i am not as good as my mom, it's okay because i know i'm going to be like her in no time..=) my specialty is Filipino Cuisine like sinigang na baboy, beef steak, menudo, afritada, tinola and ginataan to name some.. i'd to learn new dishes/new cuisines but i've got no budget to enroll myself to a culinary school..

when I worked in the office field, it was a toss up between getting home after hubby and he cooked... I did sometimes but mostly since he was home before me he cooked... now I am a full time mom and money is tight so of course I cook almost every night... it isnt that I am a bad cook, I actually do some good cooking once in a while....but for the most part I prefer to get carry out when we can afford it... some days after all day with the laundry, the cleaning, the kids, the school schedule....it is nice to not think about what is for dinner...LOL you can always try to eat out once a week and see if that saves or helps in anyway...and go from there. good luck with it all!!

when i worked outside the home i worked long days average 10 hours. i still cooked almost every night. it was cheaper and i don't like take-out that much. i would try and make some things on the weekend that i could re-heat quickly. some nights i was so tired and i really didn't feel like cooking but what are you going to do, you have to eat?
