well almost...I'm 15 wks pregnant atm...and I'm wondering when do you start to feel your baby moving? I've read online that its between 16-18wks...and Ive also read that you can feel your baby move as early as 14wks...but the book Im reading, which has been written by an ob-gyn....sais you can start feeling it at 15 wks...not everyday...but just feel it every once in a while...the only reason I'm asking is b/c I was sitting on our chair awhile ago with my hand resting on my tummy :) and I felt this--well-- it felt like my own heart beating..only in a fluttering type way--almost like a muscle spasm....b/c I'm pretty sure that where I was feeling this is NOT where the baby is..b/c I was feeling it towards the top of my stomach...and from what I've been reading...the baby should be right below my bellybutton...?...idk...like I said first time mommy...so...I'm full of questions...and yea its probably something I should talk to my obgyn about...but when I'm lucky to even see her once a month...its kind of hard to do so...and there is absoloutly no working in an earlier appt....if I need to see a doctor I go to the ER...my obgyn works at the hospital btw....nehow...any answers will be MUCH appreciated!!!

first of all congratulations! i felt my baby moving on my 5th month. but i'm not really sure it it was really on that month or on its fourth month for i thought i was just having gas until i noticed the bulge moving on that fifth month.
funny thing also happened for my husband would tell me the morning after that he and the baby were playing the night before while i was sleeping and the baby seems to be enjoying his touch and kept hiding to that side where i was lying on.

lol, that's funny, sounds like something my hubby(soon to be) would say or do!! But as far as fourth or fifth b/c of the feeling of gas, that's something else I've heard, that when the baby does start to move -for me to feel it anyway- I probably won't be sure right away b/c it feels like I have gas instead of the baby moving, esp with it being the first!! but I guess it'd bascially be on the first b/c in my way of thinking after you know what it feels like the first time the 2nd time around you'll know more about what it is....thanks for your help! :)

Oh yes, I still remember the first time i felt my son kick.. and he is 5 now, going on 6....I was like little bubbles that were moving and it was so cool...I have to say I was about 5 months with my son and I was probably 4 1/2 to 5 mos with my daughter who is now 14 mnths...
and yes, you will find yourself wishing for the lesser kicks or hiccups or movements or rolls they do....LOL, and just want to be comfortable again...
good luck and take care!! enjoy it!!

I remember my mom telling me, when I was a child, that when she was pregnant with me (and I assume my older brother as well)...that she could actually see me moving, it was like a fluttering type moving across the top of her stomach, and she said it also felt like a fluttering of butterflies....lol....I'm sure I'll be wishing for the baby to calm down...but I'm still yet excited about it all! thanks for the comment!

Well my wife did start feeling our baby move when he was about four months old. That is a very exciting moment for you being a first time mom. I suggest you go to www.babycenter.com - this site has been a big help in knowing the developmental stages of your pregnancy. It keeps track and emails you if you register in them about it.

I felt the same way you are feeling now that you are pregnant. I gave birth five months ago and I have undergone a normal delivery. I must say that when I was still pregnant I also have a lot of questions especially when the baby will start moving. I did a lot of research and read books. I even watched DVD's like the Pregnancy for Dummies. Then I found out that the baby moves not in a specific month. I found out that it is on a case to case basis. If all depends on when the baby's ready to move or strong enough to kick or punch your tummy. In my case I thought I felt the baby move but sometimes we mistaken it as our own movement. So again it depends. But what is sure is that when you started feeling that your baby moves that will become more and more often as your tummy becomes bigger. I was very delighted when my tummy was seven months old because I really felt the baby moving inside. I even took a video of my tummy because I always laugh when there is bump that moves from left to right and vice versa. If I can still recall I started feeling visible movements by 6th month of my pregnancy. The first five months were are mistaken as the baby. But again your baby may move earlier or later depending on how your pregnancy is doing.

I started feeling little movements, and like everyone says...it's like little butter flies in your tummy, around 20 weeks. I loved that feeling, and it didn't matter if it was my first pregnancy or my fifth pregnancy, I was always just "awed" by that special feeling of life inside of me.

Congratulations! Being a mother is the most rewarding (and hardest) job in the world. However, once you hold that beautiful little baby in your arms for the first time, you will know that the months that you carried him or her was well worth it. I believe that my oldest was the world's record holder for kicking. She should have been a pro football punter by the time she was born.LOL!! She began to kick around the fifth month and I swear by the 7th month,I had bruises inside there.

I felt my first one at about 15 weeks. It was more like an slight electric current on the side of my stomach and it was gone before I could realize it. It didn't happen again until a couple of weeks later, and then at the doctor's office he confirmed that it was the baby I was feeling. He was also away from I felt the current. After that, I really didn't feel him much, even in the later months. I would poke and prod and not feel a thing for days. I was also worried and fretting, but he was just a very lazy baby. If you really concerned, I'd call your obgyn and I'm sure they will check the heartbeat on your next visit. I remember waiting for those monthly appointments too. Try not to fret, its not good for you or the baby!

I would say it's more normal to feel the babys moves near to 20 week esp. if it's the first and you don't have a clue how it's supposed to feel.
The baby is very small at 15 weeks and as you wrote the uterus is far down.
I felt my first and 2nd about 16-17 weeks the third earlier, you could even fell her on the outside after 15 weeks.

Jess-
I started feeling mine move around 5-6 months. I knew they were in there, but I didn't feel any real kicks until later on down the line. You might feel what feels like butterflies. They have lots of room to swim around so there isn't much time spent running into mom. Don't worry though, soon enough you'll be wishing for these early days when you could still sleep lol.
