Do you still have the first credit card that you opened?

I no longer have the first credit card that I ever opened. I ended up having to close it for various reasons. I couldn't afford to keep it and use it responsibily. I'm sure that everyone has known that feeling at one time or another, even if it's not been with a credit card.

No, I do not still have my first credit card, nor do I have any of my other credit cards; I got rid of them. I say, "good riddance," too, because they only bring debt, and sorrow. I am so against credit cards it isn't even funny!
Noone can afford to pay their bills these days due to this rotten economy and everyone losing their jobs, let alone having to worry about paying off credit cards. I'm lucky; I was able to pay mine off, but most aren't so fortunate. My parents keep telling me I should have at least ONE credit card for back-up in case of an emergency, but I absolutely REFUSE! I think it's stupid to rely on a credit card as back-up, and I'll explain why, but first...
All a credit card is good for is making you a slave.
It wasn't long ago, when I was a slave. Working day and night to pay them off, with nothing left to show for my hard work but an empty bank account. I was miserable all the time, and depressed; I couldn't even enjoy my job because I was unhappy at not making enough money. That's the problem with credit cards - no matter how much money you make, it's never enough because you are constantly trying to keep your head above water. Now, I only have my cell phone, cable, home phone, gas, and internet bills to worry about. I bought my car outright - I own it, so I don't have payments other than insurance, and my fiance takes care of that, and rent. We split the food bill. Do yourself a favor and pay your credit cards off if you can and never look back!!! Now that I have no hefty credit card bills every month, I'm able to save that money towards unexpected emergencies, which is why I refuse to keep a credit card for back-up.

Keep that practice up. It's always a good thing when you can pay off your balance each month.

I still have the my first credit card, its been 6 years and my credit limit has changed several times. I am still using it till now, I plan to close the rest of my other credit cards and I am trying to decide which one to keep for emergency. I am considering keeping my first credit card because of the perks.

I am even looking to close my first credit card. My experience is not that good. I hve 50,000 credit on me and I can not get it cleared for an year now. Every month I pay something and the credit remains the same.
I think i will take loan and clear it, in this case, I don't have to pay more and more.

No, I still do not have the same credit card that I first got. I had to close it because the intrest rate was threw the roof, so I paid it off and closed that account. I do have others that I have had for 6 or 7 years because they are good intrest rates and they don't cause alot of hassles to have.

The only disadvantage you'd have with cancelling cards just so you could get good interest rates is that you wouldn't have the past information that the card would offer if you kept it. You'll lose all that on time paying if you closed it.

No, I don't. I'm not sure if I will ever get another credit card at this point in my life.

Not having your first credit card can also be a good thing especially if it came with a fee and no incentive. I have a few cards used for different types of charges and would not hesitate to close and get another card if the incentive was right and would not require an annual fee or increased rate.
