hello everybody here at Mylot.
i have a question concerning my dog Doughnut. i thought that she had a tick growing on one of her hind legs, but it seems that it isn't and it might look like something growing on her leg instead of it being a tick. i tried to remove what i thought was a tick from her leg, but i couldn't pull it off. so i left it alone and a couple of weeks later now, it is about the size of a pea. i have no idea what that could possibly be growing on her leg. it is a light brown or tannish color.
so tell me, has your dog ever had anything growing on the pet's body anywhere like that before? if so, what was it?
thanks for sharing and have a beautiful afternoon.

My dog had a strange bump like that on his head once and I will try to take it out thinking it was a tick. What it turned out to be was a really dried up scab and it eventually just fell off by itself.

Hi TnWoman! I had a dog once that had something like that grow on his neck. I thought it was a tick too but it turned out to be a mole. You can have them removed. I did because it kept getting bigger but I don't think it would hurt them..it just looks bad.

My big boy (ninja a rotti) had something on his ear. I took him to his vet and they said it was a blood pocket. He had to have surgery to take care of it. This happened twice and has not happened again. Thank God.
I suggest that yo take Donut to a vet. I hope it's not something serious. Itmight be a tick under her skin and they will have to lance the spot and get it out.
We an guess many hings but the only way to know is to take her to her vet.

It could just be a harmless cyst but considering how fast it is growing I would call her doctor on Monday and ask what he thinks. It may be something that can just be burned off, a wart or something similar. I hope Doughnut has something harmless.

More than likely it is a tumor..have it checked by a vet that it isn't cancer. If it's just a wart..then no danger, you can get rid of it with your dogs pee, if you can catch some..keep it in the fridge and with a eye dropper put some on every day and it will disappear. Or you can try with a potato, cut the potato..rub the wart and throw it away..do this every second day until it disappears. But do have it checked..and never, ever pull at anything again..

The best thing to do is bring your dog to the vet and let them look at it. They will know what to do and they can help your dog if they are sick or anything. Best wishes!

I suggest you take your dog to the vet and find out. whatever it is , it should be treated. ticks don't actually grow, but embed their heads into the animal(or human) and suck blood. their bodies engorge with the blood and get bigger. If it is a tick, it is a good thing you didn't pull it out because the tick 's head would have just stayed in the dog and gone on sucking blood. good luck!

I would suggest you take your dog to the vet. I wouldn't let it go if it's been there awhile and the size or texture changes.
Don't want to scare you but yes, we had a similar issue with our cat. Three years ago she had a lump on her neck also about the size of a pea. A biopsy was done and the results weren't good. We had to have her put to sleep in January of this year. Don't know how she lived an active and productive life for another 3 years.

I am assuming it is on the outside and not under the skin? It could maybe be a cyst or something like that. It could be maybe a thorn or sticker that is festering up. I would just take the dog to the vet and let them check it out. My daughter's boxer has a place on him under the skin and the vet told my daughter to keep watch and if it enlarges any to bring him back for further testing.

I have seen ticks get very large. My dad told me once that the ticks can grow very big and the female ticks are the color you say. But if you doubt it is a tick you should take your dog to the vet. Coz i think the ticks also cause heart worms.

Go to the vet and have it checked out. I hope it's just a tick, but whatever it is is needs to come off. The sooner the better.

I think you should consult the vet rather than anybody. do it before it gets worse.

i do hope you can have a vet check it. i know they are so expensive these days. sometimes more than drs! but some places have a humane society vet that will do it cheaply or even free if you cant pay. i knew of one in ohio a few yrs ago. maybe look in the phone book. i hope its nothing bad.

Doughnut! such a nice name...
Anyways, I think your'e dog might be developing a tumor, mabye she got hurt on her hind leg or something internally, but you should take her to the vet, just in case it's something we don't know about. I'm sure the vet can help.
