a couple times when i went to take out the trash to our receptacle there was a racoon in the trash inside the receptacle. it was startling to me especially because it was at night. another time there was a dog standing on it's hind legs looking into the trash receptacle.has this ever happened to you?

hi eaforeman6... an opposum eh? my ferrets are from the line of opposum/weasels. yes the land is getting more populated leaving less room for animals. and i do enjoy the animals but they are troublesome. "our" groundhog has filled our yard with a lot of dirt piles and they can endanger the foundation of our house. the little rascals.
wish we could co-exist peacefully.

Where I used to live small animals would get into my garbage. Raccoons, possums and stray dogs and cats I imagine. I would put my garbage bag out at night and in the morning stuff was all over the place and the garbage bag had holes near the bottom of the bag. I started pouring bleach on the garbage bag and had no problems with animals in the trash since.

hi sudalunts...i knew someone who only had plastic bags and he'd keep his garbage in until pick-up day and it would stink. well possums too eh? don't think i've seen a possum around here but ground hogs come and go digging up our yard. i guess you've solved your problem. have a good day.
