what to do when a friend owes you money?

Your friend owes you money, and he/she hasn't paid you back. You probably feel akward reminding them about the money and angry that he/she's blown off. So, before you become resentful, be direct (but in a nice way). The next time you're making plans, say for example "Hey, bring an extra $20 in case you need something". On your way, do some window shopping and suddenly ask him/her to stop and get the extra $20 dollars to buy anything you see you like. If he/she ever forget about the money, just move on because you already got it back in a smart way.

Being direct is saying that your friend still owes you money and that you need that money now but say it in a nice way so that no one gets their feelings hurt. Yes, it feels awkward but if you really need the money forget the awkwardness and be straight forward. And if you don't really need the money, then charge it to experience. The next time that friend comes to you for money you'll know what to do.

Have you ever heard the saying."Never to loan more than you can afford to lose". There is another one, " Never mix business with pleasure". And another, " Never loan friends or family money". What I am trying to say is that, don't use manipulation to get the money back, when if your friend doesn't remember owing you, then there is good chance that they manipulated from the very beginning to get the money to start with.

Well I guess there's nothing wrong in asking for the payment, the thing is just say it nicely and as polite as possible. If your friend is a responsible debtor I guess she will know that she is responsible in paying that debt.
