Yes we do, we are both older and it's so easy to trip at our age. With pets in the house they can relocate without notice and without light you wouldn't know they were right under our feet. We live in the country so there is no outside light to come in except the moon

Well, I don't (and that's not just because the porch lights burnt out). I live in a gated community so you don't have to worry about the disadvantages and advantages to leaving your lights on. I do have a motion sensor by my garage, though that really does nothing as there are a lot of animals that like to walk by it and set it off every 30 minutes. I don't keep any inside lights on either, I find it so hard to sleep with lights.

I think that motion sensors are a good option. I used to have neighbors that had a very bright light on all night. The problem was that it would shine right through my curtains and keep me up all night. Asking politely to change it or at least the angle didn't help. Even with motion sensors it might still be annoying for neighbours if it picks up on an alley cat scrounging around. So I'd say make sure that you don't annoy your neighbours needlessly whichever one you choose.

It depends if your house are surrounded by a different of people I mean a thief or a criminal then you should keep a light outside in your house. But if there is a peace in your place you don't need to keep a light outside for the whole night specially if you are conserving the electrical energy. haha

We have motion lights outside. We don't keep the lights on, but we have 3 motion lights that come on and shine on the whole yard when you walk or drive into our back yard. The front of the house is lit up by street lights.

Hi Shar19. Yes, we have motion lights on two corners of our house and another one that automatically comes on when it gets dark. We also have one by our gate and one on our shed/garage which is a little ways from our house. We live on a large lot and there are no street lights around our house so we like to have some security lights around our house since I'm home alone at night. It gets really dark if there are no lights outside.

I never pay any attention to whether the light is on or not I'm never the one that turns it on and it don't bother me if it is or not. You can't see it on the inside of the house if it is on so I never know.

we have a motion light on outside, so it's on most of the time, because anything will set it off lol. plus, we put in one of those new "curly" lights... so its dim, and then over time of being on, it will get brighter. really there is no need to have it on all the time but for some reason i like to have it on. i also keep my kitchen light on above me sink all the time. (except during the day). sense of security i guess. too much law and order n all those crime shows. i have to be able to see at night lol.
