As they say Junk business maybe a little dirty job because you will have to deal with old bottles and sometimes the bottle sold is a little bit dirty and worst if it is sold with a smell. I it is rather a profitable business since I can see many Jumk shops that look a little not a good site to look at but they stick to that kind of a business which means they are getting money out of it somehow. One thing that you should remind to yourself is its not the profitability that really counts on every business but its the heart and dedication you put in that business is what will make that business flourish.

Hmm.. Why do you have to invest, when you can just collect plastic bottles for free? I mean, I have a friend that collects plastic bottles then sells it to the junk yard per kilo. There are plastic bottles everywhere. You just have to be fast in collecting them because other plastic collectors a.k.a. manong janitor and manong guard are also getting those. But if you mean that you want to start a junkyard business with just buying and selling bottles, 1000 pesos is not enough. My mother told me that you have to hire trucks or vehicles like that will collect bottles. You also have to have large enough storage rooms to put all those bottles. Plus, you have to work on your business permit. Hence, you have to pay a lot before you can even start that business. If you really want to earn extra money, I think you should just start in collecting bottles in your school then selling it to a junkyard. I'm not dampening your hopes. I think it's really great! But you have to consider a LOT of things to make your business LEGAL so that your efforts will not be wasted. I hope my suggestions help you! ^_^ Happy myLotting!

Thanks for your comment. But I have a friend who does have a junk shop. So all I need to do is to text him to pick the bottles that I have collected. And I don't need a business permit either. I will just post something in front of our house telling everyone that I buy bottles.

I like your plan, small as it is but who knows someday it will grow, I admire actually people like you who is not ashame as long as it is honest business. I had a neighbor who started like that, before they are buying it from people pushing cart, later they bought a truck and set up a cleaning station, now they are supplying san miguel coke and pepsi, imagine that how big it grows, one thing you are helping to clean our environment. who knows what the future brings, good luck.

That is a good business but I am not sure if your Pho 1,000 is enough. This will depend on your location as related to the nearest junk shop where you will sell the goods or your available other resources. For example, if you do the buying in an island and you have to go to a mainland to sell, transportation alone will eat your capital. The venture may not also be profitable enough if you only have a few hundreds allocated to buy the bottles. This may also be the case if you have to take public utility transportation or rent a vehicle to deliver the bottles to the buyer. But if you will only use the money to buy the bottles and you have your own vehicle for delivery, then Php 1,000 might be enough. Here in Metro Manila, the junk collectors that do house to house buying needs Php 300-500 (less $7-$12) as running capital but they invested close to P2,000 (more or less $45) for their cart.
To check if your capital is enough, add the amount you need to buy enough goods (which is P0.050/bottle), transportation cost and amount you will be paying for straw ropes and sacks. Don't forget to check if you have enough space to stock the bottle too.

hi allenbucks, good day to you my co-mylotter well regarding to your forum topic discussion entitled "Do you think buying and selling bottles is a good business?" In my opinion, i think in the past years of our industry that kind of business was really good. My cousin earn a lot of money in that kind of business. The thing that you need to do is to be more industrious so that you can earn a lot of money by Scraping. But now because our economy is down i guess , that kind of business is no longer good in this year. Well that's all my opinion! ! ! thank you and happy earning! Mabuhay! ! !

I think this is a good business considering a lot of factors - 1. enviromental - you can help the environment through being a middle person in the recycling process 2. it is a decent business.
1000 Php is enough if you just want to start up. However, you can move away from the capital by starting small time. Walk around and pick up those bottles and plastics. I remember my mom and dad used to go to the park and beach area. they would pick up bottles and plastics and place them in the car's trunk. yes, they did not make millions out of it. In fact, they just made enough to pay for the gas for using the car. But, they were able to spend quality time together. And their grand kids started to learn the value of keping the environment clean and making money out of trash.
Go ahead and make that business!
Good day!
