When did you start drinking or smoking ?

Being from India, I can only agree to your view about students. They do get attracted to it big time. They try to impress the girls and classmates by drinking. For some strange reason they think that drinking makes a person more mature. They would take jibes at their classmates who do not drink by saying that they are "kids". About myself, I started it once I reached the University. I am not a habitual drinker and sometimes it is more than a month between my two drinks. I think this is just fine, because I know I am not addicted and limit my drinking only to very special social occasions.

I was 16 when I atarted smoking, and I also tried my first drink around that time. I din't care too much for the drinking, but I still smoke today. I wish it would have made me sick because had that happened, I would not have smoked again.

Well i started smoking when i was in my higher school but then i realised that it does no good to me so i quit but what i have noticed is that most of them who smoke have started or tried smoking or drinking during their higher school or at some what at that age because we think that it`s cool to smoke and drink without thinking of much how harmful it is......

My husband is in the middle school began to smoke,and one could not quit now,I think perhaps he can not quit and smoking are part of him,he would not let him smoke it is very difficult subject.Although we have know that smoking not good,but when the bad habit has been formed,it is necessary to be very difficult to quit.

i started drinking at 15 years old, i suppose it is result to seeing my parents drink. Different cultures have different opinions on drinking. i dont really see a proplem with drinks just as long as you do it in moderation and you dont let it effect you in a negative way.

hi tudors :) am a late bloomer LOL :D but ofcourse i knew these things before but am afraid to try it (am afraid of my parents especially my mom haha though if friends will invite me they will tell me that my mom doesn't know what's goin' on but still am a good girl haha) i tried drinking the latter part of my college life and ofcourse i asked for my parents' approval- it's like a pre-celebration for our graduation day and of course they allowed me and reminded that i will not go home drunk LOL i know my limitation (and am practicing it til now i never been drunk..just tipsy haha) and smoking same with college life but not into it- in this one i didn't ask my parents' approval i know they will not go for it hehe... and yes generation now is so unpredictable and they tend to try everything without thinking them in 100 times or even more- if they want they will do it now- my parents always tell me that i should be resposible in every decisions that i make and be mature enough- i always thank them for the values that they instill on us with my lil bro ;) i will treasure it and will do it also now that i have my own child ;) happy myLotting! i started smoking when i was 15 and thankfully quit over 9years ago. this october it will be 10 years and counting and i do not miss it at all and frankly wish i had never smoked at all. God knows what it has done to my body. now if i could only lose weight!

When i was growing up in a small town everyone started drinking/ smoking when i was in grade 6 or 7, so your what 13 or so? But as for me the first time i ever got drunk was when i was 15 or 16. But as for smoking i never ever got the knack of it because when i was younger my dad smoked and i always wanted to try itso i did. My mom just told me to breath in but not to blow out. So from that day on i never got the knack of it.
