Update on Whiskers

I took my kitty Whiskers to the vet because he was so lethargic and very hot to the touch. He just wasn't my energetic ornery little boy. The vet gave him a very thorough exam, and tested him for feline leukemia which, thank God, he tested negative for. That was the biggest relief to me. The best the vet can figure is that Whiskers has an infection in his blood and that's what's causing the fever (he was at 104.6 at the appointment) and the lethargy. The vet gave him a "super shot" of antibiotics and prescribed some for me to give him twice a day. It already seems to be kicking in. Granted, Whiskers isn't running 9-0 through the house yet, but he IS wandering around more and perking up. I'm thinking our feet will not be safe from him running around too much longer. LOL! Thanks everyone for the kindness and support. I really appreciate it. Hugs to all......Carryl

Glad your kitty is okay. Its terrible when our babies are sick. Especially when they can't tell us where it hurts. Hope Whiskers makes a full recovery. And kudos to you for taking him to the vet. Many people don't think that cats warrant a trip to the vet.

Oh, that's good news. I'm glad Whiskers is on the mend and that his ailment was minor rather than major. I guess cats are like we are when we're a little under the weather... they don't feel like doing much at all, but having him under your feet again will be the best ever scenario, don't you think?
Brightest Blessings.

Hi Carryl. I am glad that Whiskers is feeling better now. My cats were a little sick and loosing weight, but I changed the cat food. Now they seem to be gaining weight and to feel a lot better again. Because we do not have friends or family to go to see or call upon the phone, we have out cats to give us a lot of love and affection. It is very important to have someone like a cat to give you love in this world

I have always had cats in my life....maybe not quite so many at one time as I have now, but they've always been there nonetheless. I just can't imagine NOT having them. They are the best friends to have around at times. Thanks so much hon. Whiskers is definitely better now. Back to chasing everything and everyone. Hugs to you.

I don't know. They didn't do xrays or anything like that. But the vet squeezed pretty much every centimeter of his body and didn't feel anything that was swollen or anything. But Whiskers is back to his old self and I'm so very happy about that. I have my kitten back! LOL! Thanks so much hon. Hugs to you.

It is hard to take it when out little furry friends are sick. They can't tell us what is wrong, and I myself tend to worry, worry, worry until the vet gives me the answer I'm looking for. I'm so glad Whiskers turned out to be okay. And I'm glad Whiskers has such a good "parent" to look after him.

Hi Carryl! Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you but I've been trying so hard to catch up on some discussions that I've saved to answer later and finally had to give up because every time I go to answer one, two would end up in my inbox so to heck with trying to catch up!! It's impossible!! lol However, I'm very happy to hear about your kitty!! Hope he continues to improve!!

I know what you mean hon. You don't ever have to apologize to me for something like that. I'm so far behind that it's pathetic. I actually got to the point last night that I had so many saved notifications in my inbox that I got frustrated and just deleted everything. So I need to apologize to YOU for not answering your posts. Forgive me? Anyway, Whiskers is doing so much better now. I think I just about fall over him every time I turn around. And that's fine with me. I'd rather have him like that than the way he was when he was sick. Big hugs to you sweetie.

He is better for sure. He is back to climbing up the screen door (thank God it's one of those thick security screens that he can't tear up), attacking everything that moves and basically being his usual ornery self. I'm so happy too! Thanks hon. HUGS!
