You see someone drop a $100.00 bill on the floor at Wal-mart would you keep it?

same as the above. If i saw the person who dropped it I would return the money. Otherwise I would keep the money. I know i could give it to the lost and found people but then they might keep the money for themselves as well.

Wow, it's good to see someone bieng honest...most people would say no, because they think it makes them look like a bad person.

I don't know about that...call me an optimist, but I believe there are still a lot of honest people out there who would really do the right thing

Yeah, but don't you think the person at the desk would just keep it?

If I actually saw them drop it, I'd give it back to them. Now, if it was just lying there, no one around, as far as I'm concerned it's finder's keepers then. I'm not going to take it to the service desk, you know it'll end up in one of their pockets.

Just as another person said, if I actually saw the person drop it, I would pick it up and run it to them. If not, and nobody else saw me, I would pick it up.
When I worked at a toy store, we were doing a monetary donation for a toy drive. I asked the one customer if she was interested in donating a dollar. She told me NO because a $50 bill flew out of her wallet in the parking lot and somebody grabbed it and never bothered to give it to her. She asked them for it and they denied having it (even tho she saw them).

If I saw the person drop it I would feel too guilty because I knew who it belonged to. If it was just laying on the floor with no one around, I can't say I'd be so good. If you give it to the store they will probably just keep it. How do you identify one bill from another? How do you prove ownership?

exactly my point on the whole service desk issue...how would you prove ownership? Unless the original holder was the extremely anal type who comes prepared for just an occasion by writing all the serial numbers down as they get a bill

I would return the money to them and hope that if it was me someone would do the same.

Honestly??? If I actually saw the person drop it then NO, I would give it back to them.. But, I don't think I would be so nice if I didn't see who dropped it...

i would give it back to them. that's just my nature. i used to be a server in a restaurant and even if i was broke that one week, i found almost $500 in christmas money and i turned it in to my manager because there were checks in there, so it wouldn't have been hard to locate the owner.

My girlfriend is a server as well...so I think I know where you are coming from...and that would be tempting if it were all cash...just declare it as tips for the night and noone's any the wiser..but that would be way wrong..stealing and lying all at once...

actually I did find a hundred dollar bill in a grocery store when I was 17 and yes I kept it I wasn't going to go around and ask people if they lost it how many people would lie about it? I split it with my sister since she was with me and for a while I felt bad but I know there are lots of other people that would do the same my husband dropped 240.00 in a store once do you think he ever got that back? Nope!

No. Honestly I wouldn't be able to live with myself. If I find a wallet, I give everything back even the money. People keep telling me the rule on finding a wallet is that the cash is yours, give the credit cards back. But I can't do that. I start thinking about how the person probably really needs to money and their kids might starve or their power might get shut off.

And it's not unheard of for the person to reward you for giving it all back

I would keep the money but, if I did see someone looking around for it or hear someone mention that they lost their money, then I would give it to them. I know how it feels to lose money.
