A good number of people are always asking how to lose wright. I came across some good ideas on how to trick your stomach into feeling full so you eat less.
Number 1 is to never let your stomach be empty. But stay away from processed foods that contain high-fructose corn syrup. It inhibits a hormone (leptin) that tries to tell you when you’re full. And some studies indicate it never shuts off another hormone (ghrelin) that insists you’re hungry.
Before sitting down to eat have 10 almonds,1/2 tablespoon of olive oil, 6 walnuts, 1/4 of a medium avocado, or 2 ounces of smoked salmon. Theses have the healthy fats that we all need. They will slow down your stomach from getting empty and will make you feel full faster.
Fill up on fiber. snack on popcorn and fruits with the skins on. eat real whole wheat breads.
When we buy plates we usually get those big ones the ones that are 12 inch across. If you put your food on a 9 inch plate you will feel that your getting more food than you are.

Thanks for the great tips.
I always though bread was one of the things to avoid when trying to lose weight.
Avocados are a great thing to eat as they contain so many vitamins and nutrients we need on a daily basis.

Most kinds of commercially baked breads are not good for weight loss, regardless of whether they are white or whole wheat - all contain highly processed and refined wheat/grain flours as well as various forms of sugar.

Thanks for the great tips. I do like to use the smaller plate, it helps with not putting too much on your plate too. Drinking water before eating is good too. Keeping a food diary is helpful too, it helps you to keep track of what you are eating.

Thanks so much for remembering and asking about them. They both are basically doing ok but still have issues. My granddaughter still has the murmur and her reg doc thinks the holes in her heart might be closing on their own, she goes to the cardiologist this month. He thinks that because the murmur is getting louder, she is healthy, getting big and doing everything she is supposed to do.
My mom has been falling lately, I have been going to the doc with her, she will be getting a referral to a neurologist and hopefully they can figure it out. She does have a weak heart but that part of her is doing ok, she goes to her cardiologist every 3 months for a check up. She is part of a study program with a pacer/defibulater implant. Everything with that checks out ok. Take care hun.

I've used the smaller plates before and found that they worked great. I did keep a food diary at one time. It helped because it kept me from eating some things between meals because I didn't want to write them down. How's you granddaughter and mom Polly?

Those are great ideas. Haven't tried yet, but I can see that they make sense.
But personally I prefer a smaller plate. It a trick for me and it works, so I stick with it.
I usually always have different kinds of nuts to munch on during snack time, but never thought about eating those before the meal.

Thanks for sharing. I have pretty much tried all of this. The problem I have is just wanting to eat. I don't feel hungry but its just temptation when there is a chocolate bar here or a pack of fruity snacks there. I can't remove snacks from my home because I have a two year old. But thanks for sharing and maybe something will eventually work its way out for me.

Those fruity snack or more than likely packed in the high-fructose corn syrup. Instead give your 2 year old fresh bananas or grapes. If he/she can eat apples they are better for him/her. I don't keep those bad snacks around the house any more because then I will eat them pretty much going over board with them. I do get them once in a while too. Yesterday i bought a canister of pringles and I have eaten half the can at one setting. Good thing I only like the jahaplino ones they are hard to find here. Just keep trying.

If you want something crunchy for a snack, try Real Foods Original Corn Thins - very healthy and satisfying. They look somewhat like a rice cake, but are made of corn.

These are some Great ideas and suggestions my friend, and ones people for sure can benefit from as well. I know that many times the easiest way for a person to be able to loose some weight along with a little more excercise is to cut down and eat a little more Healthy as well. This means especially the Snacks that are Bad for you, but you can never go wrong following these tips for sure.

"10 almonds,1/2 tablespoon of olive oil, 6 walnuts, 1/4 of a medium avocado" - that's a lot of fat to be consuming, even if it is "healthy fat"!
You should actually stay away from all processed sugars and flours - they will hamper weight loss and cause cravings.

I've also found that "false hunger" can be satisfied by drinking a glass of water. We often feel hungry when our bodies actually need water, not food. By the time we are thirsty, we're already slightly dehydrated or so they say.
I'd love to try the nuts and stuff but I'm on a strict diet right now. One aspect of it is olive oil and vinegar salad dressing. I just can't do that, I tried and I gagged. The thought of ingesting olive oil is so disgusting to me, although I know that it's a good cholesterol fighter if used in moderation.

Good advice, I have been eating terribly lately and like crazy. I know I am doing it and need to stop, but I just keep eating anyways, if I keep this up I am going to be in big trouble. I will try the olive oil trick and see if it helps, I also need to get back to my work outs, I always eat less when I am working on regularly. Thank you again for sharing your tips.

i think this is a very good idea you have. this all sounds right. because i've found that if you eat less your stomache does shrink and thats the key to feeling full. my mom used to say the same thing. if you eat a little at a time, even several times a day your stomache doesnt get stretched out and you feel full quicker. she was never fat.

Buy your oatmeal in the least processed form possible - preferably the steel-cut variety.

Thank you for sharing this advice! I sure could use it. I'm trying to lose weight, and food is my biggest enemy. I love eating, and I love the taste of certain foods so much I don't want to stop. I'm going to try to stay away from high fructose corn syrup and start eating the almonds before I eat my meal. I recently started to eat only whole wheat bread, and the plate aspect doesn't work for me, I've tried. But I shall try your advice - thank you!

I have four almonds and three walnuts and part of an avocado a day,but do not have that good a food budget. And until this week, a loaf of bread cost $2.67 so I have been buying whole wheat buns instead. I did not know how the high-frutose corn syrup worked in defeating the purpose of just eating enough. Another one is to eat slower which is rather hard to do if you do not have all your teeth.
