Scrapbooking or Card Making? What's your favorite?

About 10 years ago, I tried something called card making. I wasn't very good at it but I enjoyed it immensely. For several years, I made cards. I never gave them out for I am my own worst critic. I still have them. But then I saw something on television that I had never heard of - scrapbooking. Needless to say, I bought a kit from the television and when I got it - it was hard. I didn't know what to put where or basically, where to start. I still have the first scrapbook I made. Again, my own worst critic. Since then, times have changed. I have graduated from card making and scrapbooking to hand making books to scrap photographs into. I am curious to know how many people prefer card making to scrapbooking. Although I do both card making and scrapbooking, I prefer scrapbooking. Anyone else?

I love scrapbooking. I started small and then the more I thought the more creative I got. SO far my favorite one is my best friend's wedding that I am still working on when I get more pictures from friends.

Wow, Jezebella, that's fantastic! I find that I am getting more and more creative as the days go. I actually scrapbook for friends so that all they have to do is pop in their photographs. When they call me, they tell me what type of theme they want and within 4 days, it's done. Thank you so much for your posting. Please let me know how your best friend's wedding album turns out! Thank you!

Her colors were beige and red, so the background paper is black with the beige and red as accents. Looks amazing, and some of the pictures I've altered with black and white, sephia, and some with balck and white version but deep red instead of black. I love it.

I do love scrapbooking more because of the job it gives my family. Scrapbooking and card making are so complientary to each other, it's hard to do one and not the other. Last month I did cards for all my clients and they loved them. I was glad that I took the time to make them.

You are so right, SukiSmiles! Scrapbooking and card making go hand in hand. Thank you so much for your post!

They are both fun, depends on the mood I am in! Cards do make a good way to use up little bits and pieces of scrapbook paper instead of wasting it. I usually make several cards at once for different various events so I dont work on them that often.

i have done both. i actually enjoy card/gift tag making and have sold some of them but last summer, a friend of ours asked me to do some scrapbooking for his mom and he actually paid me for doing so. i enjoyed it, but like to do that sort of thing on a smaller scale (a card). i also enjoy making altered art!

I love scrapbooking, but that's because I have more room to work on and it is something my whole family loves. I just love all the paper and embellishments. But card making goes right with it and I have been known to sit down and make a ton of different cards at a time to use up scraps or for a special project.

Darn, I responded twice - sorry about that. I thought it sounded awfully familiar. That's what I get for not being on myLot for a while. lol

I like doing them both, but I am more likely to make a scrap book page, because then I have something to enjoy later on. I have only made a couple of cards, but maybe I should make more, so others will have a keepsake!

I love to make scrapbooks. It's a great way to make a beautiful book full of photos and memories. It makes your photos more memorable and makes the pages pop. I really enjoy scrapbooking because I get to go through all my old photos, and new ones and laugh at some of them and remember what it was like when that picture was taken. I am making one for my baby so she can have it when she is older and I think she would really appreciate that more than a card. A card is a memory of one thing, a birthday or celebration. A scrapbook is a memory of many things over years.

I am so glad to hear that, kristeng1323! Thank you so much for your posting! I feel the same way about scrapbooking. Last Christmas, I gave a friend of mine a hand stitched star book where all she would have to do is pop in the photographs. Well, she didn't know what it was and she used it as a center piece on her table and stuffed the outside pockets with Christmas cards she got in the mail from her family and friends. Wow! LOL
