Doing it rotten my own way

I think I am going to modify how I am doing things on myLot. I've been relying on the tabs (started, responded, friends started, etc.) and my memory (which admittedly ain't what it was) to make sure I get to your discussions. And I know I'm missing a lot. The problem was, I turned off my e-mail notifications because my in-box was just getting inundated. So maybe what I will do is clean up my friends list (bye bye inactive people if their profile doesn't even show any more), change my e-mail address (if you can even do that) and then turn my notifications back on.
Of course, I am the world's best procrastinator, so if this even happens in this life it will be a miracle!

I turned off my email notification for the same reason. I was missing very important information delivered to my inbox. I jut check my friends discussions and I respond in random order, due to limited time I have now.

There are no restrictions how often you are active on Mylot. I am very busy with my work and I can be active only when I have spare time....between sleeping and taking care of myself....
Maybe I miss a lot, but I have no choice...

I work the lot the same way you do, in order to keep my inbox manageable. But I do go inactive periodically........especially when the hubs is home. So just in case you manage to overcome your procrastination in your life time, I will give you a heads up when I'm going to MIA for awhile. Otherwise I may never learn to rhyme!*sob*

I did a clear out like that not too long ago. Frankly I was surprised at the number of people whose profiles came up blank............

I figured out early on that notifications of too many people would inundate my inbox of my email so I prefer to only do such for really special people, two came to mind, one was a good friend, GQ and the other was the person that brought me to MyLot and he is seldom active... I like those three very special tabs, (started, responded and friends started) I usually start with responded unless I am overwhelmed...
Right now I feel quite overwhelmed so if you're not seeing my as active as normal, I can only apologize and suggest that my step mother answer for my distraction...
Hmmm... Lefoot doctor needs a little exposure... I have to work on that...

I know you is joking, and I love it, now is there an application that I can use to turn on or inspire that which is something magical, getting your world to rock n/ roll.
Are we still talking about notifications by e-mail? My mind is starting to wander, like I'm beginning to wonder if I'm nomadic. What I think can always be read right between the lines, some people claim that first things have to be figured out, but I would never tell you that, I'm not hiding anything. I'm just sitting back and recuperating... Getting recharged.
Hugs,

because I work from the tabs, I often don't see discussions are were posted when I wasn't online, but I can see my inbox getting inundated too. It did occur to me to turn on notifications only for certain people. Taking applications. lol

I've had notifications turned off for over 2 years now, but only just turned them back on today! I was hoping that I'd be able to uncheck ALL the email boxes and not receive any mails at all, but now my inbox is already filling up fast! I'm pretty sure that it's only gonna be a day or so before I lose it and turn them all back off again. I get a heap pf emails on a daily basis as it is and just don't have the patience for it.

i have deleted some friends too in my life though who are not active in posting in mylot. not necessarily to my threads. cause i see that they will not going to be back online. i don't want to fill my list with those inactive ones. they will just clutter my list and it is really hard to get through the list with those inactive ones.
i have always received email notifications from this sit.e and i love it. but i don't get too much emails from this site. cause there are not much replies in my discussions. and i don't make discussions any new ones lately. and most of the replies are just comment to the replies i have made to other people's discussions.

The truth is it just depends. If it's something I LIKE to do, I don't procrastinate so much. But things I don't particularly like, I can procrastinate for a very long time.

you said you are a procrastinator. but i see that you have successfully changed your avatar just now. so it just says that you are not a procrastinator at all to me. though i really don't know if this was part of your plan or just something that you wanted to do something all of sudden .
anyways, i too find it hard to delete cause it is not easy to go through those longs of friends i have added through out my stay here.
i hate to see them go but i must

If I ever get around to it. Usually I'm having too much fun to take the time to get organized. Therefore I'm terminally disorganized!!!

I don't have all my notifications turned on. I accept most friend requests but when I check people's profiles, what I find there determines whose notifications are turned on. So use your memory and turn on those notifications you think you will be able to respond to. Also, bit by bit, clean out your friends list. Truly, it's worth it. Answering from email makes it really easy. If you ever get on top of your emails, go back to answering from the tabs again till your emails add up again. You are doing it right - it just should be the other way round.
I love your avatar.

Hi Miss Dawn, By the way i tried that other site, its ok. but not really for me. Anyways, I usually just pick and choose who gets turned on and who doesn't. After all someone like me has to be picky about their turn ons right?? LOL. Have fun cleaning things out!!!

Hm maybe I could just turn certain people on. lol
Other site, interesting phenomenon. I'm having fun but I see peoples earnings going DOWN and I don't like that much.

You need to delete your email notifications as soon as you read them. That's what I do and my in-box stays very tidy. Its works well if (lets say) you have 4 notifications in your in-box read the first one and without scrolling up hit delete at the bottom left, and presto your next notification is right there for you to read.
Once read they are of no use to keep because they are on the myLot site anyway.

I hope I won't get the boot
I agree that doing things through the tabs is frustrating because discussions get 'bumped' when they receive responses and are easily missed.
I try and cope with notifiers but that can be tiresome too

no no no of course you won't get the boot. Inactive people who don't have profiles any more only. And I may never get to it anyway!

You got a BohemianHeart avatar!!!! And she's beautiful, Dawn!!!
Well, if you're the world's best procrastinator, I must be second best. There's nothin I can't put off. After all, why do today what you can put off till tomorrow.
You can open a brand new e-mail account, darlin. I did the same thing. I used to have one with Yahoo, still do I guess, but it was inundated with the same sort of thing and just drove me crazy, so I opened a new one with hotmail. And I don't have my notifications turned on either, because I don't want this one getting stuffed to the gills with them, like the other one. I don't dare even go near it! Too scary to think about. What I do these days is just go to discussions started by my friends and be done with it. There's always enough there to choose from if I feel like typing.
Ok, I'm outta here. See ya later, alligator.

Yep, I'm purple! :-)
I'll probably use my yahoo ID that I don't really use and see how it goes. If it gets inundated, I'll just flick the off switch again...

Probably true although they do say that having a clean house is a sign of a sick mind. I'm going to stick my neck out here and just guess that it wasn't a neat person who coined that though.

It is nice to be organized, but I find that my email fills up too fast with my notifications on all the time.I try to adjust it as much as I can. I do usually just use the tabs and I find that I can get alot more answered although I know that I miss some and I know that there are always friends discussions that I have missed. However, I don't always have time to answer all of them so I just have to do what I can. Good luck with whatever you do as far as getting your discussions taken care of.

I will try it with the e-mail and if it's too much I can just turn it back off again! Plus I'll put it to an e-mail addy that doesn't have anything else in it so I can ignore it if I want to!

I don't get too many in the e-mail because a lot of my friends are too busy responding and they only post a few. The more posts they have the less they seem to start. *shrug* I don't know how that works but it does.
I don't respond to all things because some things just don't fit. And if I see that some one mostly posts things that doesn't relate, then I turn off the notifier.
I hope you get a system that works for you.

I originally turned it off when one person just kept posting discussion after discussion after discussion, one liners mostly that just weren't interesting to me. It flooded my in-box and I turned them all off right after that. Probably should have just deleted the person. lol But I may give notifications another try...
