I think it is absolutely silly. The number thirteen was considered a lucky number until The Burning Times. Then The Holy Church Of Rome made it evil. Just ridiculous.

I used to live in a cottage that was part of a Victorian workhouse. The number of the cottages went 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 that was my cottage, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 14 and so on. It was interesting there wasn't a number 13. I wouldn't like to live in a house that was number 13. It is Friday 13th tomorrow so I will be glad when it is the 14th. Some people can be superstitious and that is all about tradition.

Yes, they are silly and they don't know how to count either. Stand outsie and count the floors to a building you count...1,2,3,4,5,6,....10,11,12,13,14 etc. right? Of course you do. How are you to know the people inside don't count the 13th floor as the 13th. You don't unless you go in.
It's silly, the 14th floor as they call it is the 13th floor. Unless they completely shut off the 13th floor not allowing anyone to go onto it...but that is not an economically sound thing to do. Not renting out a whole floor, come on.

When I lived and worked in another county, I at one time worked at hotels. One hotel had a service elevator without the 13th floor, but I don't think that the elevators for the main areas were listed as such. I hadn't actually noticed until a friend pointed it out.

Yes, really silly. I thought they were just kidding about this but when i observed every buildings with elevators, they do really skip on this unlucky number, i can sometimes see them replace it as 14a , with a letter just to justify that it will be not just a number.
