Well, she's back to work. My wife ended taking Wednsday and Thursday off due to a severe cold etc. She has not taken two days in a row off in over 20 plus years at her job. So I knew she waqs really sick. She was still ill this morning but Fridays is a huge day for her toip wise etc. And she did feel a lot better but still not up to par. My question for this discussion is, how many days was the most you called in sick to work in a row? I did it for a week once when I got steel shavings in my eyes at a factory job many years ago. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Good that she's feeling better and feeling fit enough to return to work! The most I had off was four months. It was over four years ago. I was in hospital for seven weeks and then I was really weak when I got home and was not allowed back to work immediately. Other than that I don't think I have ever been off at all in all my working life. I had no choice then though because I was confined to bed in the hospital.

She didn't want to go actually. She was still sick but not as bad as yesterday. It's just Fridays is a big money day for her. Missing 2 days pay and tips is going to hurt us. But we will survive. No weekend galavanting this time is all. What was it that sidelined you this long if I may ask? Wait, I did ask. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Well seeing as you did... I was running a very high temperature for almost a month. It appeared to be due to sinus problems but after so long with no improvement I was admitted to hospital for tests. I will never forget that experience because the first doctors to see me were convinced I had leukemia All the tests were done to rule it out and indeed that was not the problem. I did have a very rare virus though which it seemed I had picked up when I was already weakened after the sinus trouble. The whole time I was convinced I had nothing that serious as I never lost my appetite and indeed I proved the doctors wrong - thank goodness

Hi, grandpa bob. I'm glad your wife is feeling better... I haven't gotten sick for almost 4 months now... lol though we can't just call in sick at work. If we get sick, we are only given a day of rest to get back to work if it's just colds with fever or any illness that is not serious enough to get you to a hospital lol... that's how harsh our company is to it's few employees.Plus we would be deducted 100% of the day's pay. so you'll be deducted double of your day's pay for being absent for one day bleh... so our option is to get to work even at your most miserable sicky day hahaha...

Thanks bunches. I have bronchial asthma so I get sick with all the swings in tepms etc. It sucks but I survive. My smoking doesn't help iun the least though. Some day I'll stop smoking for good. I worked at a factory with the same ethics. Miss more than one day sick and they did not like it a lot. Ugghh! But we didn't lose pay. Just got the dirty jobs when we returned to work is all. I took two weeks off in 1980 when I had my gallbladder removed. I would have gone back sooner if it would have been possible because we really needed the money then too.

Yikes! My eyes are feeling scratchy now... that must have hurt. I can't remember ever taking more than two days off work. And honestly, I can't remember but what I only wanted that second day but didn't actually take it. I know I needed to be off for a week once with the worst sinus infection imaginable. My equilibrium was off because of it and I was walking into walls, couldn't concentrate, even almost missed my chair completely as I was sitting down. I was no good to anyone those days, but it was month end time and I was working as an accountant.... had to get those numbers crunched.

Oh she was terrible. She used a box of Kleenex and two rolls of TP on her nose etc. She also sl;ept almost all day both days as well. Working 12 hours a day 6 days a week, this is the most sleep she's had in years at one time. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I am glad that Debbie is feeling better just sorry she didn't take more time off but I do understand her wanting those tips and not to miss more work. I just hope she don't have a set back and get sicker. I know many years ago my husband had the flu and he stayed home from work then felt good and went back and he ended up calling home to see if my mother and I could come get him, had to drive him and his car home. The doctor told him when you are sick like that and when you feel like going back to work stay home at least another day or you will get zapped again and probably worse than the first time.

She really wanted to stay home. But it's warmer out today so waiting at the bus wasn't an issue for her. And we need the cash badly after 2 missed days. Luckily we all get flu shots so this was just a terrible head cold etc for her. Now it's my turn with it after tending to her. Hahaha! But we are staying away from each other. Just as far as closeness goes that is. I slept on the couch those days to avoid getting it worse than I have it now. I don't feel really bad just a slight cough and runny nose. WHEW! Happy to hear that your wife is back and feeling better than ever. I have called in sick, but not more than a day at a time. I have missed work due to other health reasons, but not because I was sick. I love being at work, and I love working!!

I missed a day shy of 3 weeks before/during and after surgery last August/September. Now, I was in the hospital from Monday night until Thursday afternoon, but the doc thought because of my health (the Fibro) that I should take an extra week off. The surgeon after my reduction surgery in 1998 thought because of my health (and then undignosed fibro) gave me an extra week off too - but that was 2 weeks.

I am glad she felt well enough to go back - just feel rotten that she went to work feeling ill! I am currently in the longest I have ever been off work sick - in a few weeks it'll be2 years! lol I was hoping to get back to work within 6 weeks of back surgery (surgeon was positive that would be too quick) but unfortunately it hasn't worked and I have ended up with more mobility problems and pain than before. My job is still open for me if I am ever up to going back and every other week I am told how much I am missed at work but am beginning to accept that I may never be fit to go back! xxxx

Glad to hear that your wife's on the mend. As a stay at home mummy I'm not allowed anytime off sick! Boy what I'd give for a week off sick! lol

I've rarely been sick enough to take a day off work, and I figure that if I feel kind of sick, I'm better off working and get paid for it and enjoy myself doing fun things on my days off. If I had a bad cold or something communicable though, I would stay home to avoid infecting other people.

I do not think I have ever been sick more than two days in a row. I did have surgery once and they made me take off six weeks. I could have gone back after four, as I felt that good. I hate to miss work. Sounds like your wife does as well.

After two days I always got a doctor's note and then it was specified how long that I would be off of work.

Hmmmmmmm, well that's debatable. I didn't have an awful lot of "sick" time whilst the going was good but when I contracted repetitive strain injury from my job, I had ooodles of time sick. I had to have accupuncture, physio, visit specialists in London, etc, etc. Then, when I was eventually told that I wasn't to go back to the same type of work, I took voluntary redundancy. When my redundancy was accepted, I'd been off sick for over a year! lol. That must be a record! Brightest Blessings, my friend.

I am glad to hear you wife got well so soon. I am sorry it takes an illness for her to take 2 days off in a row. I hope she stays healthy for a long time. My hubby came home again today from work ill. He went to the doctors and then to have a sonogram today. Hopefully he will be fine the the test will be negative. I wonder how much of his pain is gas and then he is just coming home.
