I was suprised no one else jumped on this one, so I guess I will. the United Nations secretary general Ban ki moon (don't really care if I spell his name right), said the other day the united states were "deadbeats" because we apparently still "owe" almost a billion in "obligations" to them. He later what he called a "clarification" but in it, there was no retraction of the statement and he did in fact use the term "deadbeat" and it was not taken out of context, it was a direct statement. Really Mr. Moon? Well, Secretary Moon, this is an open direct note to you and your cohorts in that bastardd organization. I want my country out NOW. I want YOU off MY soil NOW, we can use that building to house our homeless. I want every U.N. diplomat who owes the city of new york paking tickets arrested and forced to pay them and any of their cars impounded. I want every U.N. dilpomat who has gotten off a crime on diplomatic immunity rearrested and charged with any crime they may have committed that the statute of limitations hasn't expired on I want the U.N. flag off of any united states soldiers uniform. I want any treaty we have signed on to with them declared null and void. I want any considered future treeaties taken off the table and no further ones considered. Open note to anyone living in New York city: If you live in the area, get to the U.N. building and begin pasting "get out now" signs all over. I want you to tell anyone you see belonging to the U.n. they are no longer welcomed here and they would do well to just LEAVE now. Petition mayor Bloomberg to begin evicting them. Petition gov Patterson to begin evicting them NOW.

It's disgusting and we really need a president with the guts to take a stand after the corrupt UN and the punitive dues they require us to pay them. Why do I call the dues punitive? Because we are PUNISHED for being prosperous. We pay 22% of their budget while countries like China and India pay less than the average lottery winnings. We are held to unrealistic standards, yet blamed for everything that goes wrong in other countries. The charity we give to 3rd world countries is ignored and we are called greedy even though we give more than any other country. Now these jerks are just jumping on the Bash America Bandwagon. It's typical. Socialists LOVE to bash those who are more prosperous than them. It's much easier to bash those who are successful than it is to work hard and better yourself or your nation.

Don't hold your breath on our current president to take a stand. He is more the apologizing kind. Although the White House seemed to have spoken up, it obviously wasn't forceful enough for this guy to make a proper retraction of his comment. Wonder how much Korea owes... he wouldn't even be in his position, if it wouldn't be for the US.

urbandekay, since Europe doesn't pay as E.U. nor act as such in U.N. terms, but has single country representation, counting all the E.U. contributions together doesn't work.

Yep, saw this and the report on what they have tried to get away with by claiming "diplomatic immunity". I don't believe the original intent of diplomatic immunity covered some of what was reported, including murder. It should not be tolerated.

I'm pretty sure the original intent of diplomatic immunity was to protect diplomats from getting prosecuted for "unintentional crimes". You know, like a female ambassador not having her head covered in a Muslim country, or someone not taking their shoes off in a country where that may be required by law. I don't think it was ever intended to have the broad and disgusting definition it now has where people literally use it to get away with murder.

You wonder why the rest of the world considers Americans stupid and arrogant. You just answered the question.

We BANKROLL the UN. We pay roughly $450 MILLION in dues and they call us deadbeats. Do you know how much Thailand (the country listed in your profile) pays the UN? $3.5 million. I know, you're a small country. Why don't we look at other LARGE countries. Russia: $18.7 million, India: $7 million, China: $35 million. Those are the most populous countries in the world and they pay a pathetic fraction of what we pay in dues. There are only THREE countries that even pay over $100 million, France, UK, and Germany. We have less than half the population of India and 1/7 the population of China yet we pay 12 times as much as China and 64 times as much as India. Yup, we're pretty darn arrogant for getting pissed at an elitist bunch of pigs who call us deadbeats after we bankroll their pathetic organization.

I just have to corrrect one statement I made. Japan and Switzerland also pay over $100 million. Japan actually pays more than everyone except the US. They comprise 19.5% of the UN budget. Much like us, they've been withholding dues as well since it is just as unjust for them to pay such a ridiculous amount. Of course nobody's calling them deadbeats.

and so it begins with little infractions like these that start to piss people off enough to get them into action. Some said that there would come a time soon of roits and if that is the case then here is the first of many pushes that the countries out side of Canada and mexico will start to say about america. I agree with you and telling them to get the hell out. We the citizens of this nation are not responsible for the spending our governement does because I sure if they handed over the keys to the Federal Reserve every American would have land and a place to make it on their own. With out help from the government- funny that's the way it was- so when are we gonna get those keys back?

I agree with you. Who does this idiot think he is any way? Why we stay with the UN is a mystery to me. What purpose do they serve, that would be beneficial to us? I’m sure that this dumbo eats our food, and has his needs well met, while he is here in his (un)official capacity with his big important title. He better be glad that he’s not headquartered in some country that has little tolerance for freedom of speech, or he might just ‘deep 6 himself’ with his critical comments towards our nation. I say, ‘move the UN headquarters to Europe somewhere, where it belongs.’ Most of those poor folks have been spoon-fed an anti-American gospel for years, and not knowing us, or having been here, they believe it! What a shame. Most of America’s roots are from Europe and other countries, and for the most part, we Americans are a very (sometimes overboard) accepting people, where visitors, and folks seeking political asylum are concerned.

I was beyond rage when I heard this. I had to rewind and listen again to make sure I heard correctly. I couldn't believe the absolute gall. I don't understand how the people of New York put up with this outfit sitting there in the middle of their city in such arrogence. I honestly think if I was living in New yprk I would have been down at that building an probably would have gotten myself arrested doing god only knows what. I was sincerely ready to go down there and begin physicly carrying U.N. presonal out of that building and straight to N.Y. harbor.

Why are they whining this time? Money? Why so they can waste it again on painting a giant picture on the ceiling of their meeting room? They spend millions on that. Wasn't that money suppost to go to "starving people"? Oh well. What do you exspect from the UN. I say we kick them out and get it over with. THey do not pay their rent or utility bills. They don't pay their parking tickets. They do nothing of any real use....unless you want to learn how to write a stern letter to another country and then not back it up. THe UN is worthless. Why waste our money on it.

i'm not really into politic and i don't want to get involved too much with politics as well... it is really kind of complicated and confusing for me... i prefer to stay just as a normal citizen and as long as i am fulfilling my responsibilities as a good citizen, that is more important to me... take care and have a nice day...

The UN owes unpaid rent on the building, unpaid water and other utility bills, and unpaid taxes on that piece of real estate, in addition to the unpaid tickets by all the scofflaw diplomats. THEY are the real deadbeats! Did you hear that John Kerry is pushing the L.O.S.T. thing again, which will GIVE the UN control over OUR waterways, including our rivers? I can't paste yet, but I'll be happy to PM you the link to the story if you feel like you may need something extra to boil your blood.

thats all I need is something else to boil my blood, it's already at critical mass now, lol. Well, the only thing we can do is hove our states not recognize any treaties that conflict with state laws and the constitution.
