Brushing your pet - How often should you do it?

How often do you brush your cat, if you do it at all? I have a russian blue, who is a pretty fat cat. He has been shedding like crazy so I have been trying to brush him as often as I can. I am trying to find out how often most cat owners brush their cats, if at all.
Also, do you brush your cats teeth? I have been debating the idea of starting to brush his teeth, but I can't decide if it's really neccessary or not.

I brush my cat about every 2 weeks and he loves it! I can brush him hard like a dog and I usually get 4 brush fulls of hair off of him, and he STILL sheds. and he is a short haired tabby! You have my sympathy. I would brush your cat at least once a week , maybe more. Good luck!

is better to brush your cat 2time a weeks.trim her fur 2 to 3 month time. teeth ? i think your cat will kill you if you does that.haha

I have a fluffy black Persian and we brush her about once a week, though I suspect we should do it more :). Please will you upload some pictures of your lovely fat Russian blue? I'd love to see, I love cats :).
