Try to sit down and talk to them with a calm voice instead of screaming. If they don't respond to soft talk, take away something from them that they enjoy playing with. If that child is being rebelious and still not listening, Spanking that child and send them to thier room (No TV or toys to play with). After 5 minutes or so go to the child and sit and talk with the child and make sure you tell the child why you spank or punish them. Make sure you tell the child his or her action was not nice and thier a consequences for bad behavior.

For me what works best is time out. I have 3 children and one on the way. my 2 daughters are 5 and almost 4 and my stepson is almost 6. I put them in their room on their bed for 10 minutes. Usually after being in time out 2 or 3 times in one day they realize that if they dont quit what they are doing, they will just keep going back and missing out on all the fun. Also, taking away the PS2 or telling them they are not going outside will drive them crazy. That is what usually works for my children.

hey i also would like to know the answer to this one! my child is just 13mths old but she is quiet hyperactive and does not listen to me at all. to get my attention she throws things at me and i if i stop her from doing something she does that activity repeatedly and takes the whole thing as a game!
i don't think she is too young anymore i need to discipline her as she will become more agressive in future.
