Venus Fly Trap

When I was a lot younger I went to the museum of science and bought a Venus Fly Trap. I remembered the thing just stopped eating bugs, and eventually died. I recently bought the seeds for venus fly traps and plan on planting them in the next few days. Is it possible for them to die without eating bugs? Or did I just forget to water them years ago? How easy is it to grow a fly trap from seeds? I have never tried that before!
