I bought my laptop a month ago.. I was given a choice of which I would like to have, vista or windows 7.. I have seen what vista is like so I had to ask what a windows 7 look like.. It looks like vista actually but its settings are better.. You can change the wallpaper easily.. more tools and accessories.. Their is one thing that made me stop from choosing it, the guy who was going to install the programs said that windows 7 is fine but It is not built yet fro compatibility with other hardwares.. There are chosen name of printers or scanners that is compatible with windows 7. It would mean I have to buy the ones that are compatible with it if im going to choose windows 7.. I had to choose vista premium, so far so good.. It looks windows 7 and there are similar tools as well..
I might and will have windows 7 when it is perfect....
How about you? which one would you prefer? or any experiences with windows 7?

I would like to recommend windows vista rather than windows7 to be installed in your Laptop. Even though Vista experiences a lot of errors, the hardware optimization has been done in several layers and it is an officially released version.
But windows7, even though it comes with the less errors, it is not recommended as it is a beta version. You have to install and work in it in your own risk. For a desktop PC, you can try windows7 as desktop PCs can be handled roughly.

Hello,
Actually I don't think that they have created a final version of Windows 7 yet. I think that they have made the first RC version of it, but currently they haven't released the full version yet so I can't really understand how you were given the option of choosing either Windows Vista or Windows 7. But to answer your question, Windows 7 is by far better than Windows Vista according to everyone! Everyone has said that when they have tried the Beta version, it felt more stable and lighter than the heavy Windows Vista Operating System. Also I talked to someone in person who installed Windows 7 and he basically answered saying that Windows 7 is more lighter, so you can install it on lower powered machines such as Netbooks. He also said that when he tried it out, it was probably as fast as XP and as stable as XP. So it is highly recommended that you get rid of Windows Vista as soon as you can and install Windows 7 as soon as it comes out!

I have no idea about windows 7. Anyway windows 7 is not yet complete, it is still in beta. Since i heard feedbacks about vista i didn't like it. I had no choice some weeks back but to install vista and get used to it. The real fact is vista is better than XP. Vista even has parental controls that could restrict and track someone's activities.

Well first off, is Win 7 even released yet?
Because to ask if you should run a stable or unstable system is just silly.
Either way, here we go:
Windows 7 have Vista basics. Improved security, hardware/software support and runs about twice as fast as XP (almost 2.5x Vista speed!)
But since it IS still in beta I'd say go with Vista and wait for final to be released. I played around with the beta for a few months and it was actually great :) Needs some fine tuning for maximum perfromance but it blew me away alright. Never thought a Windows version would be so up to par ^^
I do use Linux though because once again; better in every single way except for gaming :)
Hope this helps,
Good Luck!

windows 7 is far better than vista as it has all the inbuilt drives which are required ,so you dont need to search for any vista driver again.
And there are many problems in vista which are rectified now i windows 7.Although windows 7 is beta right now,but it is still better than vista.

BOth are actually quite new to the market, except that windows 7 is newer.. I guess the same problems will happen to any software that's new to the market.. And no matter what u choose, it's gonna be the same.. Thus, the best time is to wait for it to stabilise before deciding to buy anything..
When vista is out initially, it has the same problems, and it was worse i think, as there's not much softwares that's compatible with it.. lol =D BUt the graphics are good and suited for playing games.. lol =D

Personally I myself would not go with either (I am a programmer), so a lot of things I cannot do with Vista. Windows 7 is much newer, but I am sure give it a few months and companies will jump to it and start creating hardware that is compatible. If anything I would choose a Mac or linux.
