How do you feel about AIG?

I have watched the news day in a day out hoping for this "change" to begin and yet seem to be watching nothing but more companies laying people off and companies going under. Today... I am OUTRAGED by what our tax payer dollars have been put into yet again. AIG hands out $1 million dollar bonuses to a bunch of its employees AFTER we bail them out? I mean come on when is it enough to where we stop giving companies that are "struggling" money to give these greedy sobs bonuses. Oh am I irritated and if the government doesn't follow through with obtaining this money I have officially lost a LOT of respect for our former. How can he want change and feed these money hungry monsters more money after they turn around and give millions away in bonuses. Now I understand before I get chewed out on here, that we provided them money to keep them afloat because if AIG were to go under we as a country would seriously be facing depression like issues. This money should be put into things to keep that company alive, not 70+ people as bonuses especially since now 11 of those are no longer employed with the company. What's your feelings on this? My father in law believes that we should let the company go under. If they can't put money into more useful things then maybe they need to allow them to go under to "teach them a lesson".

I am upset about the situation, but not outraged. I feel so removed from what has actually happened. Should we be upset..Yes, that money was suppose to go to the banks so that they could give loans to the american citizens. I know that many of those executives, probably did have it in their contracts that they were to get bonuses, but in no way shape or form was that money intended for them. Apparently, several of those executives have already left the company, and hey who wouldn't with six million dollar bonus? That's enough for them to not only retire, but to live on the rest of their lives, with plenty left over. Also, isn't a bonus given to those based on job performance? Well, in my opinion they didn't do such a great job, because look at the mess the banks are in.

I just can't believe that we are sitting in a recession that many feel borderlines a depression handing out bonuses to people. That was money that was suppose to be used to help America, not 73 people in America. I mean come on... You are absolutely right, who wouldn't leave if they were handed a load of money? I know they have said they will be taxed on that money if they keep it but take the money back. I don't care what their contracts said. Haha job performance... Again good point, they must not have been doing that great of a job if the company is about ready to go under. Its just a joke and hopefully the government will do something about this!
