no I never had the chance to do it, I always wanting to but I am kind of afraid of the deep blue sea, for that very reason, you don't know what will meet you down there and that scares me a lot.

I only took up snorkelling about a year ago and I love it!
I have never been scuba-diving, but may try that one day too.
I've never seen a shark while snorkelling although the chances are improving! lol
I'm getting an underwater camera so I can share my experiences with others.
It's like a whole other world down there!

YES AT TIOMAN ISLAND ~ It was in the last two (2) years and a very exciting snorkeling experience where I saw the beauty of living corals and colorful fishes. But, I didn't met with shark or any dangerous sea creatures. Hopes not forever, because as I mentioned in your previous discussion about going to pearl farming island, of course I have to go snorkeling to closely look at it on the sea bed.

I havent been snorkeling yet, but we did go swimming with the sting ray in the cayman islands back in 2001 when we had a group of us that went on a cruise...it was so much fun....I kept telling everyone that I couldnt wait to swim with the sting ray and that was going to be the highlight of the trip... and then when we were on the boat to actually ride out there I was so excited for the first 10 minutes ....then I panicked because I had to go in the water....LMAO...but it really was a neat experience after all and I would do it again!!

Yes, it was many years ago, but it was a pretty boring affair here in the UK waters. But wow.. snorkelling with a huge shark! I hope he wasn't hungry! What I would like to do one day, is to swim with some dolphins. I've heard so much about how wonderful they are, that I would just like to experience it for myself. - Derek

Oh I love snorkeling especially now that it is summertime. Almost every week we are spending time in the beach and enjoying the sea. Snorkeling is one of the sea activities we do really enjoy. I love to see the wonder of the sea creatures. But I only have gotten across with different fish that really delight me and beautiful corals as well, but shark no... not yet. Maybe I'd be too scared when that happens to me.

Hi moneymommy:
Yes, I did have the opportunity to go snorkeling once. I was on a cruise in the Florida Keys, and tried it for the first time.
Our instructor was with us every step of the way, and really made what was a scary thing, very much fun. We snorkeled above the Coral Reef, and I could see the fish swimming below me, including barracuda. I don't recall seeing any sharks though, for which I am ever so greatful.
Our next stop was Cozumel, and I took my young son snorkeling there for his first time. He was 8, and for him, it was love at first attempt. From then on, any chance he got, he was snorkeling even in our pool.
I think more people should give this sport a try if given the chance. It's an inexpensive, and safe sport that will keep you cool on a hot summer's day.
Take care.....

My brother has been snorkeling off the great barrier reef in australia and said its just amazing. Some day I would love to try this too! I also learned to scuba dive when I was very young but havent done it in a long while.

I love snorkeling, the first time I went was in Xcaret Mexico, since then I have learned how to find the more remote places. There is a very cool spot in Akumal called YaKul, so many fish, turtles and strange things that it is unbelievable! Snorkeling is a totally different dimension, the first time that I did it, when I came up to shore I felt dazed and confused and very happy!

Yes, I have tried snorkeling several times in Boracay Island. It was really fun, like there's another world existing under the sea. I was so fascinated with the different colored fishes, sea urchin, and star fish that I saw. It was relaxing and at the same time, exciting. Lucky for us, it was summer time when snorkeled so there were no worries about high tide or sharks in the area.
