What is your favourite kind of computer? Is it personal or laptop or notebook? What make? And what are your computing skills?
My favourite kind of computer is laptop..I thing laptop can be good as PC but it is harder to upgrade but not impossible. And if you want to play games you have to buy a game console. So my favourite kind is laptops.
I have two favourite brands.First is Dell and another one is HP.
My computing skills are very good.I can do whatever I need to.I mean I can use computer on working and I am really good in windows and working with office and lots of another programs.I can change some hardware as well(specially on PCs,I did't try it on laptops yet) and I can reinstall windows as well and can split disk on more partitions..I can't programming..I use to know that as a beginner but I think I forgot. So I can do all except programming.

Oh I like HP Tablet and Samsung UMPC because I take a lot of notes, voice recording, time scheduling and to eliminate the much use of papers and save the trees.... lol....
I already fed up with PC's and together with MS Windows actually. Especially on assembling a customized PC. That's why I turned to Linux Ubuntu and Apple Mac.
Linux and Mac OS are almost the same as for UNIX is concerned. Doesn't necessary you have antivirus softwares installed. You don't have to defrag or scan your harddisk frequently or reformat the whole system. Apple Macs are low in maintenance. It is just like or having a TV set that you don't need to open up the box.
Has no big noisy blowers. Apple Macs are clean no cluttered wires around. It has wireless and bluethooth.
Simple to use and yet it so powerful in creativity and productivity. You can have a not costly softwares and applications. Like iWorks'09 it is a complete package for documentations, spreadsheets and for presentations unlike with the costly MS Office. When you buy Apple Macs it has already a free and not limited usage of productivity softwares and applications like the iLife'09. In iLife'09 you can make movies, websites, sound editing, photo editing, Burn DVD's and more. You can install other OS. like: Linux Ubuntu and MS Windows.
Apple Macs are intel based. Graphics devices are NVidia or ATI. You can do lots of 3D works, watch HD Movies and Games.
Just go to www.apple.com for more informations. Or search on videos on youtube. About Apple Macs especially on iMacs for general consumer purposes.

So if you buy apple you get linux operating system and all programs are for free of course:)but it is nothing to do with macs because if you put linux on your pc it will be the same.I mean what is real difference? apple macs are basic the same as normal PCs?I know there must be some different thing but is it there something what you can't have on your normal computer?I had linux on my pc as well so my programs were free too.And you said you can put windows on mac so you have to pay for programs too then.I really don't understand the real difference.Because as I saw apple macs are really expensive too.

Desktop - I can play newer games, cheaper and I have a 22 inch LCD.
I also have a laptop but use it mainly for browsing and word processing, a few games but not the latest ones.
I like AMD and Asus so my desktop and laptop has AMD processor and Asus motherboard.

Yes but if you have laptop on working and then you have desktop for games , I think it is better to buy laptop and some game console (it is cheaper and better and you have better games on it)And you mustn't upgrade it every year to can play games in the best graphics.

Hello friend,
My work involves a lot of travel so laptop is the best companion for me. True, it has got issues regarding upgrade and all but when I bought it I made sure that it has got the configuration that would suffice for the next 5 years at least. I do not play games a lot so the gaming console is not a problem for me.
Coming to computer skills, I can type at more than 70 w.p.m, I can format a system, change its operating system and partition the disk. I know a few programming languages, like C, java, etc

You are similar like me but you are better in programming so you are little bit better..:) Can you describe me how you split disk on partitions? Because I can do it properly only with linux live cd.Advance is that you mustn't have operating system in your computer and you can do it.I know there are some programs what can do it but I didn't try any because I mustn't because that linux live cd works great.

Ok, so I'll bud in as well :)
I use laptops only, because I have no space for stationary PCs. Nor macs (silently throws up).
I don't care much for computer games since the experience usually is alot better on a console and a 52" plasma full HDTV
Anyway,
I focus on processors, RAM, and read/write speed for hard drives. To me it's important that my laptop can transfer files quick and work with larger files at all times. Multiple even! (Very excited to try out Ubutu 9.10 with new ext4 fs :D)
So yep. Laptops are great. Battery time will become greater with time :)
I've run Linux the past 4-6 years. Started out dual booting and now I just run purely Linux. Love every single bit of it.
Oh right, I also only buy IBM/Lenovo laptops ^^

I know that desktop computer is better than laptop but laptop is made to use on the way for example while you travelling and so on.And most of laptops are similar as the best desktops so it is no problems with performance now..But I think that desktop is little bit better then la[top too.

Hi, yzedxw! Yes, Mines is Dell so far. I have a Dell desktop computer. I am now on an Acer Aspire 5515 laptop, me and my husband currently share this. I like both. But, I prefer a desktop computer instead. I do like a laptop for going out purposes..

An assembled desktop is the best computer, where everything is of your choice and make. According to me desktop is better than laptop because it provides you the space and you can work more easily on a desktop. You dont have to strain on a desktop than on a laptop.

For my office work i use a Dell Laptop.
For my home i use a custom build system.
The reason for this is it can be easily upgraded but this can be be the case for the laptops.
The reason for a custom built system is i play lot of games and i can choose the components as i desire.
Take care.

It can be the reason but I bought my PC with high performance and I discovered that I could buy cheaper PC and game console too for the same price and after one year my PC was old and I could play all games but I couldn't play the newest games on the best graphics.I if I buy a PC with normal performance only for work and not for the games I can buy a ps3 too.And I think it is better then buy the bast PC in the same price as normal PC and PS3 and after one year buy new graphic card and RAM and so on.

I am currently working with a desktop PC. But now i feel that i want a laptop. I really love to own a laptop and working with it.
Today, i am earning money through internet using the desktop PC but i hope that i can increase my earning when i own a laptop as it provides more flexible computing environment.

I like the mac book pro which is a great little computer. It has a lot of features and is very easy to use. The only thing is there aren't many games you can play on it.
