I have heard people say awww that couple is childless. The couple has decided though that they do not want children and consider themselves childfree. I myself do not wih to have children. I have many reasons as to why not. I would consider myself and if I had a partner that felt the same way, childfree, not childless.
What are your thoughts, opinions on this?

I never wanted children, really. But accidentally had two. :) And while I sometimes long for the life I'd had planned for myself before them, they are my greatest joy, and every other pleasure is superficial compared to the meaning they bring to my life.

I have children, but I've always been surprised at the judgment people without children sometimes have to endure. I usually refer to my friends who don't have children as childfree (often with a wistful look of envy on my face).
I love my children more than anything, but parenting involves a lot of worry, responsibility, heartache and stress, and I certainly have periods where I wonder what my life would have been like if I hadn't had them.

Choosing not to have children is a decision to live with forever. Children and a blessing, and it is more sad to see childless folks when they are old and alone. In your senior years, it is hard not to have the immediate family and grandchildren to gather around in your golden years.

Choosing to HAVE children is also a decision you have to live with the rest of your life AND the life you made. Some people are perfectly fine growing old and not having children around or even grandchildren. It is a personal choice to live childfree. It is good for some and not good for others. The people that do have children sometimes grow old and never see them, now that is MUCH more sad then seeing someone grow old that choose to be childfree.

I have never had to deal with this. I have been having kids since I was young. I guess childfree does sound much better!

That is a very good point and an interesting way of looking at it too.
